On the other side of the coin, many countries in Africa and South/Southeast Asia with fast growing populations and lower economic development levels are likely to contribute more immigrants to the US going forward. Also unlike in much of the mid to late 20th century, these days immigrants are increasingly spreading out to many mid-sized and smaller metro areas in the US beyond the traditional "gateway" cities. This is leading to some surprising new immigrant clusters, such as Liberians in Fargo, ND or Burmese in Fort Wayne, IN.
We have one of the largest populations of Burmese Chin refugees in the world here in Indianapolis. In that context, it isn't quite as surprising that some may want to be near Indy but prefer living in a smaller city like Fort Wayne.

Being I don't know much about the Burmese, I started looking into the US population. According to the site below, Indianapolis ranks second behind Minneapolis - St. Paul. I had no idea.
And this whole time I thought that it was just a coincidence that I was running into Cameroonians in Houston.
Interestingly enough, Cameroonians only seem to be moving to the DC/Baltimore area, DFW, and Houston. There doesn't seem to be much of any immigration anywhere else in the US.

Impressed by both Houston and Dallas here. Minneapolis also outdid New York City metro area, and only 2,500 behind Atlanta's growth, that's very impressive.
