Spade, HTownLove is not saying that Dallas is falling, as in falling apart (think Detroit), he's saying that even though Dallas is growing, it's growing slower than other similarly sized cities and therefore is falling off of the top 10 list.
Problem solved.
And I never said Dallas is falling apart or losing population either. I even said Dallas is growing slowly as it is maturing. But I just said that Dallas could easily have another one of its growth spurts again as they have many things going in their favor in the future over cities like FW and Austin for the future. Dallas will be able to handle more do to increased density. I only disagreed with Dallas falling out of the top 10 by 2050. We can agree to disagree. But he is incapable of doing that so thats cool.
Dallas isn't falling. It's just growing slowly. Dallas is maturing if anything. It's has already seen the growth that Fort Worth is experiencing.

No, I disagree with Dallas falling. Just those cities are growing faster and its mostly suburban growth at that with the exception of San Diego..
you never tried to make an argument for it coming back, you just flat out disagreed with it falling even after I showed you proof that its position was slipping
I don't see LA overtaking NY in metro population. I don't see how it would happen unless LA experiences another population boom like it did from about the 70's-90's and the conditions for that to happen likely will not be in place again soon.

I actually missed that and would agree - also at some point in the future NYC and Philly may be one metro by census standards

True, but Im very sure that NYC and Philly would reach that point well before LA and SD.
