Where is that a fact? Please provide.

Here is one:

10 States With Biggest Rate of Job Growth in 2013-Kiplinger
TX,FL,SC and N.C. are 4 of those states NONE are in the Midwest.

Here is another from another thread:
(Look at the totals for each state by region.)

The top state in the Midwest was Illinois. If it was in the South it would be 5th after GA and before S.C.
Now please explain how that is stagnant?

Sprawl?Yes about 5-8 years ago.
Atlanta no longer 'Sprawl City'?

The total of dense, walkable development has increased from 15% of Atlanta real estate developed from 1991 to 2000, to about a quarter from 2001 to 2008 and now the 60% majority. While about 70% of these places are in Atlanta, there was still a large number in the suburbs.

Since we are comparing regions, I'll refer you to our friendly neighbor to the Northeast. I wouldn't even try to compare the Atl with Chicago if I were you.
Why would you not count TX?It is in the South. What about Miami?Tampa?Charlotte? In the Midwest you only really have Chicago?Charlotte is bigger than Milwaukee.Oh thats right. You do have Detroit!

Talk about IRONY.Then you have the audacity to mention stereotypes as if that qualifies as some sort of bellwether as to what you and some other might think they know about the South.

Truth is its that self importance attitude that many Southerns don't really care what people think. Its a completely mostly Northern mentality.
You are basically telling someone they better act a certain way so that IGNORANT people who cannot think for themselves rather develop a territorial attitude of superiority.over another group.

Southerners whether black or white are very comfortable who they are.Good and bad.Its just crazy that you felt a need to say that as if she really cared about your or anybody elses opinion. Nice for you to feel so righteous I suppose.

Come on now.Minneapolis?Really?Did it ever occur to you why Minneapolis is so much lower than the other cities?Gee I dont know.Maybe because it has by FAR the smallest black and Hispanic population?

Minneapolis is like 85%white.If you look at the chart here you can see that whites live more among other whites by far in Minneapolis than Atlanta.
Blacks in Atlanta also have more of a chance to live among other blacks than in a city like Minneapolis where the black population is much smaller.

However more whites live in closer proximity to blacks than they do in Minneapolis.

In other words is if there are 10 whites and 2 blacks move into the neighborhood with whites then its not more intergrtaed because there are less number of blacks.A greater number will have groups that live in both areas in great numbers.Thats exactly what this chart is saying.

http://diversitydata.sph.harvard.edu...ustomLocs=True

The highest in the South in your list is Miami(more segregated).Milwaukee is 81%.That to me is a huge difference.
Clearly cities like N.O. and Memphis are more so but they are more in line with the average for the Midwest cities.Overall it is very significant.

I'm not going to say that the south is awful, because I like parts of it, but northerners are not the only ones who paint entire regions with a broad brush.
And all those cities you mentioned are not among the top integrated cities in America like Charlotte,Atlanta,Nashville,Dallas,Houston etc..

At 298 square miles, Charlotte is bigger than Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit.

The Midwest has more than Chicago, much more. That you prefer the South doesn't negate the Midwest.

It's time to put this thread out to pasture.

Texans don't usually regard themselves as Southerners, they're Texans. In most topics on CD, it is generally accepted that Texas is basically a region by itself and that is the way they like it.

Anytime something with the South comes up southerners always try to claim Texas, DC and Baltimore because they know they don't have much without them. You don't see the Midwesterner's trying to claim ND, SD, CO, MT and WY as the Midwest, do you?

Without Texas, the south has no cities that are top ten for population, the Midwest at least has one. If you look at 10-20 for population, the south has 3 and so does the Midwest. So what exactly are you talking about?

When someone says the South, it is generally understood that the Southeast is what's being talked about. I'm closer to Texas than you for pete's sake.

What is considered the South? Looks as if the South in this thread consist of nearly 20 states compared to 7 midwest states.
