Now that you mention it, since it's been march, the two red halos were turned off!!! Why does H-town need a special occasion to make downtown look neat at night. Oh well, at least we still have Wells Fargo Plaza, the Continental building and the Centerpoint Energy building...
Good question.
I never have understood it myself.
Houston's skyline looked the best at night when they used to do the annual "Power of Houston". Now that was a HUGE event!
Downtown Houston looked like a Pink Floyd concert with all of those lights, lasers, & fireworks shooting off the top of the buildings.

I totally agree. Houston should use this lighting on a regular basis, without the fireworks of course. It would really help our downtown capture the eye of many critics.
I don't understand why skyscrapper-skyline threads are not aloud. If that's what people want to talk about why not.. Is a city vs city type question after all and shows different aspects of a city

I don't get it either. This is apparently an old thread that has been bumped, so it's "okay", but try to start a new one, and it gets shot down immediately
The Chase Tower may be the tallest, but it's far from being the most iconic or attractive building in Houston's skyline. That honor should go to (Houston's) BofA Center (formerly known as Republic Bank Tower) or even the much, much shorter Esperson Building.
The OP clearly had a biased agenda when he/she started this thread, and it comes out several times in his/her ensuing posts... but this is an old thread so it doesn't really matter much now. Anyone familiar with either city's skyline knows that the Chase Tower is only remarkable for it's height, not it's looks.
