Minges Bottling Group says it will build a new 223,375-square-foot facility next to its existing operations on Highway 11 just outside of Ayden.
In the current economic climate I'm certain this is a better deal for Grover. I liked the location along Charles, ideally would love to have seen them locate in the city center....
If this bill passes, would Greenville be a good location for a casino?
I mean Danville is getting a Caesars so....
I would think perhaps Wilson or Rocky Mount would probably get the nod over Greenville given closer proximity to Raleigh's population and adjacent to the interstate.... but it is certainly something to think about. The west has several already. Danville in the northern/central part of the state.
Similarly an amusement park might make sense for the same area. Knightdale/Wilson/Rocky Mount....

Agreed, and I would also add in New Bern and Wilmington for the same reason. I'm sure the thought of being able to pull in summer beach goers would be pretty enticing for anyone wanting to open a casino. Even though Greenville finally has I-587, it's lightly traveled compared to I-95, I-40, and US-70 (Future I-42), since Greenville is somewhat off the beaten path.
The only reason Danville is getting a casino is because of it's close proximity to the Triad and Triangle, and US-29 carries a decent volume of traffic, since it acts as an alternative to I-81 and I-95 in Virginia. No way Danville would've gotten a casino otherwise.

This is really what I was thinking when I asked if Greenville is a feasible location. A casino would do fine in Greenville until another one opened along 95 or 70. Greenville's isolation hampers us in so many ways. I do think Wilmington will get a casino, though, should they become legalized.

Yeah, I think that's a safe bet (pun may or may not be intended).
Location-wise, Goldsboro would also be a good candidate for a casino, given that it sits at the crossroads of US-70 and I-795/US-117, which would allow a casino there to pull in beach traffic headed to either the Crystal Coast or Wilmington. Then there's Seymour Johnson AFB to draw from as an added bonus.
Greenville's location is it's only drawback to getting a casino, IMO.
