are there any other newspaper options in the Springs? I read the gazette and it seemed like it didn't even try to hide it's right leaning bias. It was like Fox News in print. Is this just a very conservative paper, are there other options for the more, er, moderate folks?

Yes! The Independent. Love it. Ya gotta read Ranger Rich, he's priceless.

I think you can get the Denver Post there, yes? Of course, it's not local, but it will give you a good statewide picture.

the gazette is a joke. very poor writing, very biased reporting of our news. i go online to read the articles mostly to see the reactions and comments on the articles. usually a lot of hate and intolerance on the comments that gets me angry. yet i still read it. a guilty addiction.

the denver post is a lot meatier of a newspaper. you pick it up and it has some heft. and you still get the essential cosprings news maybe a little delayed, plus more worldy and colorado statewide news. not just the news like the gazette's articles about "ted haggard's wife uses faith" or "muslims not welcome in my neighborhood".

I could have written that. The Gazette isn't a newspaper I'd subscribe to. The Denver Post is too Denver-centered for my taste.

Thank you all for the responses. Glad to know the Gazette isn't the only voice of the Springs. I read the Independent on Mike's suggestion and was very pleased. Thank you all! And Ranger Rich was an absolute riot, bagging on the Gazette. Highlarious!

Actually, the Gazette, at least the editorials, has been less conservative of late.

My daughter lives in COS, and that's what she tells me as well.

I don't think so, I just think even the conservatives have become scared or alarmed by some of the extremists in their midst.
