These are some of the smaller cities we are considering for a relocation. I would appreciate your pros/cons on each of the cities.
Thank-you.

You will probably get some responses if you list specifically what you are looking for and most importantly the population range that you are interested in.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info on Grand Junction. So are you getting the 100 degree temps in GJ - I'm sure it is a dry heat (hot is still hot)?? What are the winters like - I'm here in Tulsa but grew up in S. Dak. So, here we will get maybe 20 inches of snow and ice a winter and a week - 3 weeks of temps below freezing for highs. In S. Dak - well that is another story regarding cold.
Jobs: I'm a credit mgr and I've been a local general mgr for GE (leasing business). I also teach part time at a local college. So, jobs would be a big consideration - I'm in my early 50's so I have many years to work.

Housing prices: Our 2000 sq ft single story home is 8 yrs old in a good neighborhood and would sell for around $170K - Tulsa has good housing prices. How do prices stack up in GJ?
Thanks

I'd like to know housing costs relative to Co Springs, Denver area for these communities - looking for a smaller city in the 5000 to 50,000 in population.
Jobs are important - what kind of jobs are available in these smaller cities? I work as a corp credit mgr, worked as a general mgr for a equipment, leasing company, operations mgr - besides teaching part time at a local college. We don't need a lot of big city attractions - are attractions would be the hiking, camping.

In general, housing in Grand Junction is more pricey than it is in Tulsa.

Regarding your work experience and the availability of jobs, Grand Junction would be able to accommodate you quite nicely. Here is a link to one of the Grand Junction newspapers to check out the job situation:

Welcome to GJSentinel.com!

Grand Junction is an outdoor lovers paradise. I go nature hiking everyday, usually right out of my front door without ever getting into my car. The Colorado National Monument is on the edge of town, and the Grand Mesa @ 10,800 ft with more than 200 lakes is about an hour away. When it's 100 degrees in town it's about 80 degrees on the Mesa....just an hour away.

I've only been here for one winter. The lowest temp on my home thermometer was 2 below zero. Officially, the lowest temp of the winter was -8. There were 23 days where the high temp failed to rise above freezing. It's just about always sunny, so the cold is not as bone numbing as the much warmer, gray winters I was used to in Virginia Beach. The sunny climate really made a big positive difference...for me anyway. There was perhaps 10 inches of snow over the course of the winter.

regards...Franco

To give you an idea on housing, I just bought my first house last month. Home built in 1955, 2 bd 1 bth no garage, 1090 sq, average/poor part of town for $155K. About $200K for 3 bd 2bth w/garage in decent part of town. In my opinion, construction, hospital and oil field jobs are where the money is at in this town. We also have Mesa State College here, which is a big part of the community. I have lived here my whole life, and I would have to say I hardly see it snow more than 3 times per winter. Highs mid 30's in winter. We almost always have a drought during the summer months, with the average around 95 degrees or so, about 2 weeks of 100+ temps. Like Franco said, the Mesa is so close, and really is a great asset to have.

Default The Choice..

GJ has the College and is growing .. like most Western slope towns..
Montrose ..is still has the best views and is a bit Smaller.

Both are fine choices
