In fact I have a feeling that Colorado in the year 2100 with be better then even I can imagine and people know this and that is why we always get ranked high in any survey that looks at how much people like Colorado.
world class restaurants, plays, musicals and concerts? are you thinking only the upper class high brow snobs will be coming to the party? it would be more like...how many new strip malls, fast food places, acres of parking lots, and poorly made new homes and apartments can be jammed packed into the area to cater to the masses. ugly new buildings, more walmarts and burger kings, oh joy...let the migration begin! the natural landscape would take a beating. your idea of utopia certainly isnt the same as mine.

I guess you and I have a much different experience in Colorado and that is ok. Personally I love to think back to the 80's but am glad Pueblo is not like it was back then as this would not be a area many people would want to move to like it is now.

Interesting point. I was just focusing on the things I like to do as I know more people will mean more options. Then again I do shop at Walmart, fast food places etc., so I am ok with more of them as well.

Well one thing we disagree on is to you Pueblo is Colorado, to me Colorado without Pueblo equals much better Colorado. I never liked Pueblo then and don't now, but I am sure there are some good places to eat and all that around there. To me the "Colorado Experience" does not reside in Pueblo and I think without I-25 running through town and being the tail end of the Front Range Population Blob, it would be a one stoplight town.

There are certainly some things that are better about Colorado now. One that springs to mind is Denver International Airport. I travel a lot and it is one of the best airports in the world. Properly organized with plenty of room. Stapleton was a dump that backed up air traffic all over the USA and was way overburdened not to mention very unsafe. Glad it's gone.

Seems like Kansas with a Colorado address.

The things that come to my mind when you say Pueblo are the Federal Information Center that sends out all those public service flyers and the railroad test track. Is there more to it?

Not as much above treeline in the Cascades-tundra vs forest-CO wins for that

Bushwacking through Devils Club to get to your line-deal me out

big Glaciers-give it to the PNW-I lived in WA for 22 years. But prefer the Rockies-they *look* and feel better (to me at least)

I'm sure the more lengthly Colorado dwellers could flesh this out better, but I remember when I arrived in CO in the mid 90s, the landlords and locals telling me stories of how in the 70s no one wanted anything to do with CO....they had their own state depression thing going on......some of them had bought houses during that time, for outrageously low prices, and how some properties stayed on the market for what seemed like forever.....

The house I rented when I left in 2000 originally cost them $76,000 (in the 70s) and was at $250,000 then ~ and that was only the beginning of the bubble/CA influx to that particular part of CO....And now it seems like everyone in the world wants to be here....

You are right, I do think that Pueblo represents a segment of Colorado. A segment that gets overlooked and that is a key reason I post on here so Pueblo is represented like Colroado Springs and Denver.

However, your statement about Pueblo is odd because location of a city is everything in why it grew or did not grow. So yes you are right Pueblo's location on the confluence of the Fountain and Arkansas rivers is why it became a trading post and later the main reason it became a major steel town. Then the rail roads helped and later being at the junction of Highway 50 and I-25 has help make Pueblo the hub city in the Pueblo region of 20 counties in 2 states with over 400,000 people.

As far as the airports. DIA, Colorado Springs Municipal Airport and Pueblo Memorial airports are all much better now then they use to be. In fact because of the USAF pilot school at Pueblo's airport it is now in the top 50 busiest airports for take off and landings in the United States. Next year they will teach the pilots who will fly the drone planes here making it even busier. This will only cause more people to want to move to Colorado.

I would say more like the southwest fused with the midwest. In fact that is one thing I love about Pueblo and why people are wanting to move here as we are unique in Colorado as no other major city is like Pueblo. Plus we are warmenr then most of the cities in the state in the winter and get the least amount of snow. Yet close to great skiing.

As far as what Pueblo has. Pueblo has what you say, in fact the Transportation Test Center is now home to homeland security training and is a major research facility known all over the world. A fact that I think gets over looked when research is talked about in Colorado because quietly Pueblo is home to a world class research facility and all of Colroado should be proud of that.

Pueblo, also, has the states fastest growing university, Colorado State University - Pueblo, Rocky Mountain Steel Mill, largest tower plant in the world for wind turbines, the world headquarters for the Professional Bull Riders on the Riverwalk in downtown and the first level USAF pilot training school etc. These are all reasons Pueblo is better today then it was 30 years ago and why people are wanting to move here causing larger developments to be proposed.
