If you want free health care join the military. Tri-Care is great! You get motrin until a limb falls off then you can see a specialist. Tri care and retirees eat up the largest % of the DOD budget.

I would suggest you read them before rendering an opinion. They're not all positive. We're not all crazy up here in Boulder County.

It would, of course, be much better if our Congressional leaders were not trying to cut the VA/veterans benefits budgets all the time and trying to privatize the system. One thing to remember, though, is that try-care, Va, etc, are all paid for by the taxpayers, many of who do not share in what they pay for. With ColoradoCare this would not be the case.

Do you think this will pass?

Is there a limitation on when you'd be able to access this system? The second you get Colorado drivers license, are you eligible? I'm worried that other Americans may move to CO while they are sick, keep a residence somewhere else saying they were on "vacation" demand care then return to wherever state they come from, and didn't contribute in taxes? They have such limitations on the PFD in Alaska, and I think it would be best for Colorado to have such a limitation on the books until every other state also had single-payer.

Also please do not mass migrate to Arizona. I'm done with old selfish people repressing the government against young people in Arizona, which is what retirees do constantly here.

Anything's possible. I personally hope it doesn't pass because there's nothing in the law to prevent a bunch of freeloading deadbeats from moving here to get in on the "free" healthcare.

Our lovely government can't even print license plates correctly - who in their right mind would trust the same idiots to make healthcare decisions?

I hope it fails miserably and Amendment 71 passes to keep partisan clowns from muddying up the state constitution with garbage like this.

OK, so there are no limitations. That's very bad news. I thought there would be limitations preventing people who move in quick, get treated, then move out before tax season.

You guys did marijuana legalization correctly, I have faith in you! Is there any sort of poll or something on this law?

Also, what is Amendment 71?

Amendment 71 is Initiative and Referendum reform, and IMHO it's badly needed. Currently people wishing to amend the state constitution only need to get signatures from a percentage of the registered voters statewide. (The magic number is roughly 98,000).

Since they can get their signatures from anywhere they camp out at stores along the Front Range and more or less ignore the rural counties completely.

Amendment 71 would change that by requiring petitioners to gather signatures from 2% of the registered voters of each state senate district. If it doesn't have broad support statewide it won't make it on the ballot, period.

Amendment 71 also changes the number of votes required to pass a ballot initiative. Right now the threshold is 50% + 1 vote. Amendment 71 would up it to 55%.

I will be voting YES on this because I'm sick and tired of partisan hacks pulling an end-around to enact laws they know would have absolutely no chance of passing legislative muster.

There are some scary ballot initiatives that got passed this very way that are up to vote on this November related to the oil industry. If passed it could take over $2 billion in revenue away from CO, estimated 300k jobs, and over $250million away from education each yr. The state constitution is something like 10 larger than the US.
