Yes! The tower they had in mind was only 8 stories though. So now 5 is more realistic.

That is really sad leadership in this city is so backwards and holds this community back. Georgias second largest city and they are taking down a 12 story building to replace with a Hampton Hotel sized building. All these other cities want to build up with signature skylines. Columbus has enough to be a signature city in Georgia but Skip and the others down there prefer to keep the small town feel with the big city problems that they cannot control. It’s honestly sad.

Outdated leadership for sure! I really pray the next Mayor is someone who is young with vision, cause Skip ain’t it honestly speaking.

The part that baffles me most is that fact the current tower was fully capable of being renovated/modernised - what city in the world demolishes its tallest skyscraper (in downtown) optionally. It always seemed odd to me that the idea gained support. Very sad to me as well.

It's all about them having a "pet" project. They'll probably have to add money on top of that 200 million because they are not getting a 300k sq ft Judaical Building under that.

It's a nice modern day courthouse. It will be 8 stories matched with the current gov't tower,so they'll only be losing 3 stories. I personally don't like all the glass on the 10th street side. The front side of the tower should diffidently complement the springer and rankin.

The new tower is not aesthetically pleasing. It looks like a CSU building like someone said above. Also they are moving the tower from 9th street to 10th street? I also like that they mentioned that they need to build for the future. This tower should last another 50 years or more. What if Columbus experience a population boom? Their being very cheap in my option!

Agreed, at a whopping 200M+ price tag this design doesn’t cut it IMO. Definitely reminds me of the Cunningham Center at CSU.
