DEEP’s state lands program sells firewood to people who obtain a permit for it.

"A firewood permit is $30/cord with a 2-cord minimum. The wood is usually within 100 feet of a dirt road. A 4-wheel drive pickup truck may be needed".

No problem but I dont see why someone would pay $$ to do the work themselves when they can simply have arborists drop off logs to their home for free. I guess would be kinda fun like getting a Christmas tree?

And dont worry folks, trees are like weeds in CT, they are resilient and grow everywhere especially in a warming climate.

Rough rule of thumb, 1 mature tree is 1 cord.

We had a tree guy that would drop log length, all I had to do was make a call, if he had a good load coming up, he'd let me know ahead of time so I could clear the way for the drop. Our woodstove has more than paid for itself, as far as the work, I enjoy every minute of it.

Looks like a very cold weekend coming up. Probably shutting down the Woodstove and burning Fuel Oil to keep baseboard pipes warm. I had a friend who had a baseboard pipe burst in his garage with bedrooms above during a cold streak, don't need that to happen here

Nice score there! I wish more people got educated on wood stoves.

I stopped having this guy deliver only because it was an extra step for me to cut them into logs. It was nice because I can cut the length I want and make them all the same size

but why should I if the other guys drop off logs like this?

I had a tree service around the corner taking down a few Ash trees and loading into dump trucks cut to 18 inch sections, I asked "Do those have a home ?", he answered "If you live nearby, we can dump it at your house"......gave him my address and went on my way to do errands. I got home in time for load of wood, which is a good thing, the dump truck got stuck in the yard and I had to pull him out with my truck. Long story cut short, I had to put up a sign "No more wood", I already had a load of log length to deal with, now an addition three truck loads of rounds
