Cheshire, North Haven and Prospect are good places to start.

Why not right in Cheshire itself? If you can afford it, it has good school district and close to work, great combination

Lots of good towns in the area. Cheshire has great schools. So do Orange/Woodbridge/Bethany (they share a district).

Depends on what you're looking for in a town/area and what commute you're comfortable with. Budget. Wants in a home. You'll have to tell us more.

Cheshire has a very good school district. The other towns are good as well. For more information on schools here in Connecticut, check the website below. I generally look for schools that perform at or above the state average on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance Tests and have reasonable class sizes (generally in the low 20's or less). thank you everyone for your response. I am looking for an afforadable apartment( <1600$p.m and 2-3 bedroom, preferrable 3). Are there any malls in Cheshire? School district is a must, and it sounds like Cheshire is great for that. What are the other highlights of the town? I also do not want a very long commute. Less than half hour would be ideal.

Apartments are very hard to come by in the immediate Cheshire area. There are some condos and house rentals.

Rentals may be more plentiful in a bigger town like Wallingford. Also try North Haven, Seymour, Orange, Southington.

You should contact a realtor. They helped us a lot when we moved here.
