Yeah, but you would think that people across the country would be emotionally affected.

They were. I was emotionally affected by what happened at Columbine, Virginia Tech and Aurora - but I wasn't numb. With this, I was pretty numb. Literally.

Its unbelievable that there are people that would bash an entire country after a freak event such as this one, as if everyone is responsible for what happened.

Have you heard about the 26 Act of Kindness Campaign to honor the victims? It's gone viral around the world. A woman in my state walked into to big box store today and paid off the lay-aways for 26 strangers. Things like that are happening all over the place in support of those suffering in Newtown.

I have noticed less traffic issues for sure. I myself am more calm behind the wheel too. Just thinking about my fellow man.

Same here. I haven't figured out whether it's the proximity, the age of the children, or something else. I've never felt this way.

I respectfully, yet fully, disagree. I say that because right now I am vacationing where I grew up, in Milford, and I still vividly recall the 11 am Friday phone call from our Admin Assistant in Tn. I had heard at that point one child was dead, as I was in a fast food restaurant, just barely, sporadically hearing WEBE 108. Ironically, she heard the grim reports faster than I, and updated me.

The raw emotion in her voice from Tn was beyond anything I have heard from her over the 8 years I have known her, and we are very good friends. Had I not known she was also concerned for my safety (not knowing how far away Newtown was), I would have suspected someone close at work had died.

Also is the vital word there-most of her emotion was simply this unimaginable horror. Where it happened was of no consequence for America's reaction.

This happened in Ct physically, but emotionally, this happened all around America. This was not Columbine, Aurora, or any other shooting. The ages of the victims is the sole reason this is not a LOCAL event. IMO, it is also not going to be forgotten to the degree other shootings have been.

6 and 7 year olds, 2 weeks before Christmas , made this different..exponentially.
