be the judge for yourself. Jobs Still State

No surprise that CT is lagging MASS and even the Country when it comes to employment gains. Since the recession ended-5yrs ago- CT gained 5.8% while MASS gained 8.64%. I know I know, "CT lags..." but really?

This little fact is what I think CT's biggest problem. "When figuring for discouraged workers and part-timers who want full-time work but can’t find it, Connecticut’s real jobless rate is 12.6%." (Jobs Still State).

I see retail being built but have yet to see a company like [insert manufacturer, insurance company, large IT or corporation or bio science company (that we didn't pay for ::Jackson labs::] adding full time jobs, moving or expanding in the State. (yes, I know incentives are used by EVERY State to lure companies to the area). You can't expect to grow a State one Macy's and "box a slots" casino at a time.

FYI-CBIA is a very pro-government agency but, as noted in a COURANT article, they are being pressured to speak up and be the voice for very large corporations. Corporate Connecticut uneasy over state budget - Hartford Courant. I really like their website and visit it often because they offer the dumb down version of bills on the floor.

Wow we choked. 78% for CT and 150% for Mass. Ouch. Don't you think it's interesting how CT and Mass are similar when it comes to people who complain about taxes yet Mass population increased by 200k within 5 years while we increased by 20k? That's probably the case because Boston is growing at a healthy rate and creating lots of new jobs. It's the fastest growing city in New England when it comes to population. They have an advantage over smaller cities in New England because companies and events are attracted to major urban centers over smaller cities like Hartford or Providence. How can they be more successful when they have the almost the same anti-business ideas as us? Roads? Infrastructure? That we have Malloy?

Looks like Amazon is hiring and getting ready to open in Windsor. I know we had a least one person come here saying they are moving to the area for this. Good news. Jay

Looks like Connecticut based restaurant chain Subway is continuing to grow. It is already the largest restaurant chain in the world but it is still growing. Jay

Here's another Connecticut company expanding...in Indiana.

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. Invests $7.69 Million To Expand Greenfield, Indiana, Manufacturing Center - Area Development

We need these CT companies to invest in CT. FWIW, I like how Indiana does their incentives. We should do that instead of fronting them money and saying "create 135 jobs."

How does this benefit CT? Very likely HQ headcount won't need to grow.

If they do well, headquarters do well. It is good for everyone. Jay

I am sure the person who is moving here for a job there would argue with you on that. Jay
