Where did you get that amount? It seems high. The total budget for the Town of Fairfield is just under $285 million. It seems out of line that GE is paying for 27% of the town budget. Jay

I have, but my rep and senator are both Republicans and are against it already.

Back to Connecticut Economy...

None of these companies will move. It's all a bluff. Later today they will come out with a budget and GE will announce they want to expand in the State. We have one of the best States in the Country for Business, there is no way they want to leave.
I don't think they will move either. The companies are just priming the pump so to speak to later ask/demand tax breaks and incentives to stay in CT. Can you imagine how much money it would cost to move/relocate a company like GE ?

Now if they were moving to a foreign country the moving cost would probably be worth it.

My apologizes.
I read it wrong. It says they are the largest tax payer with property VALUED at $76M. taxes paid to town are $1.8M @ 24 mill rate.

People considering a move to CT need to read up on the economic climate here, the declining home prices, the anemic job growth and the exodus of people moving to other states.

Especially for a young person or a family just starting out, moving to CT is career suicide.

Wow and Bridgeport lost 8 jobs yesterday. What a blow! Wonder what the mayor will say?

Too bad about Bridgeport. Isn't that where Sikorsky actually began? Stratford will likely be happy about that. Jay
