I just saw two articles that said CEO of CT companies are already complaining about the taxes and the threat of leaving CT. One thing to remember is that this pandemic shows that offices and a main central Hub isn’t really needed. You can work from anywhere and be productive.

Remember pigs get fed, hogs gets slaughtered. Take the W and keep this momentum. Let’s not get too greedy.
Spot on. I have never seen Connecticut in such a good place in comparison to its neighbors (NY, NJ, RI, etc). Now is the time to lower taxes, particularly income taxes, and send out a press release. Get ahead of the game. This could help reverse the process of businesses looking elsewhere. But they have to do it, and they have to do it now.

I've been ringing the alarm bell for at least a decade on this site. At some point reality has to set in. Connecticut liberals are in complete denial. How many companies have to leave before the woke wake up.

Pitney Bowes chief executive warns that businesses may leave Connecticut if the state raises taxes.

Guys, it would be great to copy/paste the subscription-required article for us if it’s going to be shared. Many of us can’t read it.

Firm believer that those who invest now, via it corps with capital, or states aggressively REDUCING taxes at a time when its not their usual m.o., are in an awesome position to take market share, and improve their long-term position.

Between NY's desire to sharply raise taxes, plus its dysfunction with random crime spiraling, the next few years will be a great time to raid businesses from them.

We must, concurrently, avoid being raided by low cost of business states by resisting the urge to raise taxes along the way this state's politicians have.

I agree with you too. This would be a good time to cut business taxes and cut the income tax if possible. Jay

Interesting column regarding Maryland Hotel exec hoping to but Tribune, which owns Courant. Irony is the flagship paper is the dog making it impossible so far for him to find the investors he needs.

Tribune votes on Alden Capital 5-21.

Good to see Pitney Bowes warn state about the consequences of a state raising business taxes, or creating a poor Cost of Doing Business climate in general. Hopefully, Lamont does hold the line on taxation, and undoes some of the damage Malloy did to our Business Ranking.

I agree with all of the points above about Connecticut's current prospects relative to its neighbors and some real opportunities to pivot and make the state truly competitive once again.

Unfortunately, Connecticut's largest nemesis is its own state legislature -- full of many people who can't (or refuse) to see the bigger picture.

So instead of blaming CT's voters who vote for politicians who are ruining the state (for quite some time), you are blaming people who leave CT? These escapees are exhibiting rational economic behavior. What's is irrational, un-emancipated, un-enlighted, uncivilized is the mindset of a SUBJECT that a swath of society who vote for these temporary politicians causing permanent damage to CT.

CT got a one-time shot-in-the-arm with NYers moving to cheaper CT plus Feds flooding the money pit, but I have full confidence in CT to squander this windfall.

There is nothing right now that has changed the underlining fundamentals of CT's economic behavior, which remain quite rotten.

Actually quite the opposite -- such windfall is disconnecting CT voters & their politicians from repercussions of their decisions.
