Foxwoods is in the process of hiring 300 more workers. This should go a long way to bring down our stubbornly high unemployment rate. Jay

It helps, but we need dozens of similar reports. Our labor force is 1.74 million, so a single tenth of 1% is 1,740 working people. April U6 state rate was 7.6%. USA rate was 6.0%.

Still adding 300 jobs back is nice.

It was a ghost town there just 6 weeks ago. Now not so much.

Medical Marijuana corp outgrows its West Haven spot, takes over Stratford plant Aptar is closing.

At least it is 40 new jobs, short-term, if they grow as hoped, 50 more later.

Yes but there is a Marijuana/ jobs matrix that many are not aware of.

For every X amount sold, someone, somewhere calls out of work!

Like I said the F35 might go on the chopping block
https://www.courant.com/business/hc-...l6a-story.html

The only reason why Pratt and Whitney makes these engines is because there were issues with GE. Well if there are issues with this it could happen again.

"Rep. John Larson, D-1st, whose district includes the East Hartford headquarters of Pratt & Whitney and one of its manufacturing plants, said he has “great respect” for Smith, but he said he and the Washington state Democrat haven’t always agreed, particularly in 2011 when Congress halted production by General Electric Co. of an alternate engine for the F-35, clearing the field for Pratt & Whitney as the engine’s sole source."

Growing up in Mass I personally know people that had parents work at Ratheon for decades. It used to be called the Pentagon on the Charles during Vietnam. Anyways it's a defense contractor that is largely dependent on public work to stay afloat.

"With a steep decline in commercial aviation due to COVID-19, Raytheon Technologies is relying on a greater share of revenue from its defense businesses. Its mix of sales last year was 65% for defense, which includes Raytheon Missiles and Defense and Raytheon Intelligence and Space, and 35% for commercial aerospace.
In 2019, defense businesses accounted for 55% of Raytheon Technologies’ sales and commercial aerospace was 45%."

I don't know folks. If we want to pay for additional aid to people and small businesses without hiking taxes or a higher deficit (which would push rates up) it only makes sense that they cut military spending. The US left Iraq and is leaving Afghanistan. More people have died from COVID domestically than pretty much most conflicts since WW 2.

An unusual bill is being considered to give the state say in the publication’s corporate and financial structure thus preventing Alden from adding debt or wringing money from the newspaper. Interesting idea. Hopefully that can save it. Jay

This was another waste of time by the legislators, who properly had no say in the sale of the company by its stockholders, to Alden Capital.

It's almost like the government wants to control the media!?

Newspapers are losing millions. The prudent thing to do, under the circumstances, is cost cut, and see how many years one can get by, as a corp, as a smaller company with a reduced cost structure.

Connecticut pols can show the media how to misrun and create a bloated operation, such as our state government. I found them trying to interfere hiliarious.
