I feel bad for the Wilton employees there in such a nice building in a nice location. Now they have to hightail it down to that cesspool everyday.

CT residents are struggling is it the economy of the state ? It was 35 percent before now it 38

NEW HAVEN-Two years after a United Way report found that 35 percent of Connecticut households were struggling, we are two years farther away from the Great Recession — but the percentage of families earning below a basic survival budget in Connecticut has grown a bit, a new report says.

The percentage of people who don’t make enough to pay for an “annual survival budget” is now 38 percent, the report found.

The updated report found that 38 percent of Connecticut households were struggling financially and could not afford basic needs such as housing, child care, food, health care and transportation in 2014, including both households living below the federal poverty level, or FPL, and those living above it who still struggle.

The updated ALICE Report found that 65 percent of the households in New Haven were either below the poverty line or fit the definition for ALICE, compared to 74 percent in Hartford, 63 percent in both Bridgeport and Waterbury, 55 percent in New London, 52 percent in Meriden, 42 percent in Danbury and 35 percent in Stamford.

Report: 38 percent of Connecticut residents can’t meet basic needs

What if CT did away with their income tax and replaced it with a consumption tax. In addition to, a land value tax in lieu of property tax. Lowered gas tax or did away with excess tax on gas. A town/city tax for schools for individuals 65 and younger owning property in that city/town. A car property tax capped at 30% and a flat corporation/business tax rate of 5% in CT. No additional state taxes outside of excess tax on alcohol and cigarettes.

Good luck with that. The state isn't interested in making less money especially in the budget crisis were in right now.

Good luck getting quality employees at these new rates. After the current crop of employees retire Sikorsky will just become a revolving door of new employees. Putting together choppers requires more skill then putting together hamburgers. So good luck with that.

At one point CT did not have a state income tax...but like all blue states, with democrat politicians that need more & more money to subsidize the leeches of society, a state income tax was passed...that's something you'll never get rid of
