Couple of trees (plural on purpose... only have a picture on one) in Waveny had fall-esque foliage. Red leaves? . Wish I could've checked out if the tree was stressed / dying...

Im seeing a couple but obviously fall like weather is not the cause. Maybe they go by meteorological seasons too. Its fall, lets turn colors!

And this is similar to Washington DC normal. I still cant fatham how people live down south. No money in the world would make me move there. Yes, even a billion dollars. Not worth dying and being miserable for.

Yes, it is a combination of cooler weather and less daylight that makes the leaves turn. So it's possible the tree is more sensitive to the lessening daylight than the temperature.

Mid 70s overnight. AC constantly turning on and off to keep inside under 70. This is getting old!

Don't forget... Click on the Hurricane Florence thread for daily updates! Will it hit us in 10 days???

Combo of cooler weather?? What cooler weather?
Less daylight? If that was true there would be more than just 1 tree every 5 miles. lol

I think its more like stress and/or composition inside the tree. ie: sugars, water, age, molecules, all the good science stuff.

No I mean that both cooler weather and less daylight make the leaves turn, so that in some cases the leaves can turn in the absence of cooler weather because it is reacting to less daylight. But what you say makes sense too and may be more likely.

By the way, Stamford, Norwalk and Danbury have heat related early dismissals tomorrow (Bridgeport will probably follow suit soon). Would be funny (actually pretty tragic) if a week from now Florence came up here to the point that we have closures from that too.....and we all once thought the only weather schools really closed for was snow, LOL! (Have to admit, when they said a few days ago that Florence was a fish storm I didn't pay much attention to it).

The current setup.. Jet stream all the way north in Canada (which isn't abnormal) but the core of the Ridge is right over us. Relentless. MOVE OUT! GET SQUASHED!

The Upper heights over us is above normal

6pm and it feels like 90s. Trapped inside again
