In all likelihood, only a tiny quantity from Ct will work there, and it will be those w/o better options, in terms of commute.

Now, all three headquarters are within 6 miles of Jeff's homes! But I imagine he will commute by helicopter anyway.

I've reported on NYC real estate development for years and have documented LIC's latest construction boom in detail. This will, by far, be the biggest development project this not-so-little-anymore neighborhood has seen. It's hard to believe where they put a few MILLION square feet of office space, although the Sunnyside rail yard near Queens Blvd is my best guess. For may years, the city has been inching closer to the idea of decking it over for development. This location would likely be best for subway variety, although there are many underdeveloped sites in the Court Square area (near the Citigroup building/One Court Square -- in fact, much of One Court Square recently became vacant and could be leased by Amazon until they build their own offices).

Now the fun begins. It will be SJW liberal democrat mayor BdeB and Andrew Cuomo (not to mention the very liberal/progressive democrat majority city council), that will be batting it out in terms of who has major control over this project.

http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-y...-sidestep.html

Citibank IIRC shrunk or totally moved out of their offices in LIC, so there is that space.

Mayor of NYC has been making noises about building over Sunnyside Yards same as what was done with Hudson Yards. Only problem is the cost will be *huge*, as will also the battles over rezoning.

Whatever Amazon does in LIC it is going to have an impact on not just that area, but much of Queens and bordering Brooklyn. This is both on the commercial and residential end of real estate.

If Mr. Jeff Bezos thought Seattle was a hot bed of liberal/SJW politics, he is about to enter the East Coast version big time. Cuomo getting the state to take control of things could save Amazon from the worst of things. But that won't stop either the mayor or other local politicians making all sorts of demands regarding "equality" and so forth.

Mr. Jeff Bezos has homes in Manhattan and Washington, D.C, so either way he will be close to either new headquarters. Though one wonders if he will be same as many other wealthy persons and limit his time in New York to avoid being deemed a resident for tax purposes.

This is going to be a game changer for so many neighborhoods in western/central queens. There won’t be any bargains for sure, but you might not yet be priced out of neighborhoods like woodside, sunnyside, Jackson Heights, elmhurst, etc
