I circled the days we were above normal this month. Not many!

The blue bars are the lows for the day. Even the lows weren't "warm". Only 5?

Loop past 5.5hrs.

Flurries/Light snow showers reaching NJ/PA border. As well as Northern CT and MA. I think Lake Erie is responsible for some

No doubt, it's cold out there.

As of the 10 AM obs, most of Connecticut is stuck in the 30's F. I would have thought the wind chills felt lower, but I guess NWS knows what they are reporting. I just was out there, in the sun it's not so bad, but then that wind gets you. lol.

The only spots that are getting close to 40 F are New Haven and Groton. I would guess that the coastal locations only have until about 2 PM to hit 40 F, otherwise that won't make it.

Looks like New Haven and Groton are the only stations to hit 40's F (as of 1PM).

NWS thinks the flurries should end soon:

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
1235 PM EST Tue Nov 28 2023

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Forecast continues to be on track with adjustments to
temperature, dew points, and PoPs to reflect the most recent
observations, trends, and conditions. Scattered snow showers
have continued to develop with the approach of a shortwave in
the embedded upper level trough that is pushing through this
afternoon. These snow showers should be fairly inconsequential
with perhaps a up to a light coating of snow on cooler and
grassy surfaces. These snow showers are expected to move through
the area over the next several hours and weaken later this
afternoon and into the early evening

Snowflakes made it to NYC, Long Island and the CT coast.

If you don't like the arctic blast today, then you probably won't like the one next week, with a mild stretch in between.

Thursday December 7th morning temps

It was pretty chilly today.

In fact, it looks like only the three coastal stations...Bridgeport (high 40 F).....New Haven (high 42 F)...and Groton (41 F)...were the ONLY locations that got into the 40's F today. The rest of the state was stuck in the 30's F with wind chills in the upper 20's F.

Looks like some decent moderation by this Thursday....we should see upper 40's F to low 50's F in many areas:

A reflection of the strength and national extent of this cold air mass, even if it's brief.

So far as of 7pm EST, the warmest temperature in the continental US today was 78 in Phoenix. If it holds there or no one else in the continental US goes over 80 degrees, that is rare even in the dead of winter (when many locations in southern parts of FL, TX, AZ and/or CA still go over 80 on a given day), let alone in November.

The last time Bridgeport got 2"+ of snow was.... Feb 14, 2022... over 650 days ago. 2nd longest streak!

Last time with 3"+ of snow was Feb 14, 2022... 4th longest about to be 3rd

We never year about the positive signs of some weather extremes. Do you know how much we are saving in snow removal and salt?

BTW... NYC stats, wow!

Edit:: BTW.. BDR got 2.0" of snow on 2/27/23

I asked for consecutive days less than or equal to 2 inches. Therefore 2/27/2023 would be included in this streak because it is equal to 2 inches.

So basically its the streak for 2.1" of snow (daily)
