the West side of Stamford will turn into the new harbor point after BLT is done there. South Norwalk non-fancy parts are already being changed over to new luxury apartments as well.

I don't have a solution to the issue, but its something fairfield county will be facing in the coming years.

I here you Grandk Man, I'm all too familiar with that scenario closer to my west coast home, though I don't think this is much of an issue in Stamford or CT.

So what could they redevelop the mall into? Some still whisper about UCONN and others say mixed use...still some say a Convention Center.

I've heard the UConn rumor too. Don't know if there is any substance to it, but it makes some sense, considering similar projects have been done in Bridgeport, Hartford and New Haven.

I feel whoever does the redevelopment should add a walking path through the mall connecting Atlantic st and Glenbrook pl similar to the Kiwani's park across the street from veteran's park.

It will add to the walkability of downtown and pass on some of the downtown vibe to Glenbrook pl as well.

It can connect the veteran's park Piazza currently being built up and the Food truck park on Glenbrook Pl

You can still walk the old Main St. path underneath the mall between Veterans park and Greyrock pl.

That's true, but a real connection would be nice. The mall is a huge dividing point downtown. Ideally, the mall would be torn down (or at least the central portion between Barnes & Noble and Macy's and Main Street would be reconnected between Atlantic at the Old City Hall and Greyrock, running south of Vet's park where the ramp into the mall garage is now. Then put in some nice mixed use development to stitch downtown back together again.
