I agree that’s a beautiful building, would be very disappointed and surprised
if they were taking it down for any reason.

I think the person who mentioned it in my Facebook group might have confused the address.

Yes, they are definitely mistaken. The city may need some minor land takings or easements from that property but they are not taking the entire building. That would be insane. Jay

Can't fathom so many for Golf, heck there might have been 8 guys working in Happy Gilmore!
ESPN does have about 4,000 in Bristol but overall the network employs about 6,500. The LinkedIn estimate for The Golf Channel is the entire network employment. It’s likely the number would be closer to the lower end of that range though. I doubt they are bringing that entire amount to Stamford though. Jay

Simon Property Group has canceled its planned merger with Taubman Center, the owner of Stamford Town Center and Westfarms Malls apparently due to changes in the economy with the Covid-19 crisis. Too bad. Jay

So what implications does that have for STC(Stamford Town Center) Mall?

I don’t think anyone knows that. It is supposedly for sale but it’s unclear if that was for the merger or for a separate sale. Jay

So STC operations continue as normal for now.

That is my understanding. It is still a very viable shopping mall with a lot of great stores. I doubt it will close anytime soon. Jay

You know: It's amazing: We now have more sources of information at our disposal than at any time in human history, yet at the same time more false information than ever before... What the ?!

I heard and read everything about STC: That it would become a UCONN asset, that it would be repurposed for condos, office space, insert what you heard here: _______! LMAO.

I think we were bettter off forty years ago - with four major broadcast TV networks(counting PBS), and a newspaper thrown on the porch every morning or afternoon.

Ironically, while this is true at the macro level, the advent of craigslist and other online classified ads has completely destroyed the local news industry. So while you can get the opinion of random uninformed tweeters, local reporting with standards, editors, and accountability has been hollowed out.

Anyone have any good local reporting they could share? Aside from the Stamford Advocate?

I tried reading the board of rep notes directly but they are hard to follow.
