I care about the actual issue and have listened to all the media outlets take on this but I am 0% offended by anything Sterling said. That's what I meant by not caring.
I don't like when people act like it seriously hurts them when people call whites Jews or rednecks or something. It's not exactly a race that has gone through a lot of flack over the years, so it isn't even close to comparable to being prejudiced againt blacks. I mean, I think it's dumb to make negative comments in regards to any race, but this is apples and oranges. I think the Sterling flurry is pretty much deserved, regardless of what was said in private. It's not like it's not racist if he said it just because he didn't intend for anyone else to hear it. How can you tell someone to not be out and about with blacks? How is that defendable?
You can say what you want, but you are not protected from the general population's right to give you an earful.
Black on white murder/beatings, etc has been on the rise for years and is very common these days but all we hear about is trayvon martin, donald sterling, richie incognito, paula deen, etc. Look up the knockout game. If white people were doing that to blacks at even 2% the rate that blacks are currently doing it to whites everybody would be talking about how it's the lynching days all over again but you barely hear about it cus white people ain s**t and deserve it in most peoples eyes. I'm not saying what Sterling said was defendable but you have Larry Johnson today saying that "it should be a all black league" and no one cares at all or talks about it so why should I care about what donald sterling or any other "white" person says especially when it's in private and he's hired black gm's and coaches all the time.
Unfortunately for your perspective, OP, the NBA and the fans DO care. That's why Sterling will have to submit a groveling apology, he'll be banned for a set amount of time, he be out of a LOT of money and eventually he'll be forced to sell the team.
If he hates minorities (especially Blacks, which is odd as his girlfriend is part Black) he probably should have kept those thoughts to himself. If he had, he'd possibly get to witness his team win in the playoffs this year.Now, he probably can't even go down to their arena anymore.

And if the nba cared so much why did Doc Rivers sign on with the Clippers, why did cp3 sign with them? Why did Elgin Baylor stay as clippers GM for 20 years and then claim discrimination when he was finally let go after one of the worst gm tenures in sports history? Why did he stay 20 years if Sterling was so racist to him? These people all knew he was "racist" but still signed to play and coach for his team even though any other team in the league would have been happy to have rivers or chris paul.
I'm speaking from both, actually. Also consider this: if the man didn't have a history, then perhaps things would be viewed differently. The entire conversation was disgusting, especially the "I give them food" comment. Those guys earned their food and cars. Chris Paul puts butts in the seats. He and Blake Griffin are probably the two most compelling reasons why the sucky, woe-be-gone clippers are even relevant. From a business standpoint, nevermind race, it's astonishing that he would bite the hands that actually feed him. The Clippers don't do anything for Chris Paul or Blake Griffin. They can walk and the Clippers will return to being the bottom feeders of the Western conference.

They were making money before cp3 and blake griffin when they were the worst franchise in sports....Charles Barkley said that the clippers team value was 15 million when sterling bought it and 700 million now because of the black players that played for them in that time frame but reality is that ALL SPORTS FRANCHISES in every sport have gone up in value about the same amount. Doesn't make a difference who played for them and it definetly doesn't for the pathetic clippers teams over the years. The fact is that the clippers would make money even if they had the worst 15 players in the league. I bet the 76ers made a ton of money this year even though they were trying to lose as many games as possible.

I think Magic Johnson and his investment group are behind it all. They've been trying to buy a team (lakers rejected them) and they paid to get dirt on the guy. Why would random conversations ever be taped without a clear reasoning (if it was to show he's a racist, the whole world has known this for years). Magic came out yesterday or day before saying he'd buy the team for $1 billion, don't you find that odd??? The smartest thing he could do is sell now and disappear, you'll never get over this pr nightmare.
Surely, you are not taking the billionaire Donald Sterling as some sort of rube who just fell off the turnip truck. The guy is a skilled litigator surrounded by a team of high dollar lawyers. If there is any sort of "set up," do you really think they would not take action against Magic Johnson's group? Privately taping conversations without someone's knowledge and then using them as a means of personal gain is called blackmail and/or extortion. You go to jail for a long, long time for that. Do you really think a billion dollar investment group is stupid enough to engage in mob-like tactics againts another entity who could (and would) essentially decimate them? I highly doubt it.
Sterling is a complete moron. He damaged himself and the team. Team sponsors have already bailed today (State Farm Insurance, Car Max and more on the way). Players will not want to sign/resign for the Clippers and many fans will boycott the team as long as he's the owner. I'm sure some of his big shot Beverly Hills buddies will not want to be seen with him. He's ruined. I wonder if the Democratic party will still accept his donations???
