Cop Makes Woman Sit In Hot Car To See How Her Dog Felt: Police Blotter

Kudos to this fine officer! Sometimes stupid people need to be taught the hard way about not leaving your dog in a hot car.

I never could understand why a dog has to accompany someone when they go shopping. Any time you are going into some place where the dog is not allowed, the dog should be left home. What is wrong with people?

I say good but I bet the cop will face disciplinary action.

I agree leave the dog at home.

Well my dog likes to go with me all the time. There have been times I have had to stop in a store for a minute. I have two keys so if its warm out I turn on the AC and lock the doors while I'm inside. If I know I'm going to have to be inside someplace long I don't take her.
When will people learn not to leave animals and kids in hot cars.

Eh, I take my dog with me a lot. I could have to make a stop at a non-dog friendly store on the way to a dog-friendly store. Like a PP said, I can lock the car (w/ AC) and run into a store. I really try to avoid it, though, because there are a lot of over-zealous wanna-be good samaritans. That's the type that will call the cops or bust a car window without taking an accurate assessment of the situation. I haven't had this happen, but I've heard many stories.

What she did was wrong, no doubt about it. This could've been a child, and a much worse scenario could've played out. With that said, cops aren't are parents, nor our moral police. He should've cited her, detained her, or arrested her if necessary.

Go ahead, hit me with the "hater" or "anti-cop", I'll hit you with the U.S law.

I do the same thing. I make the car a meat locker in the summer if I take my pup with me and have to run into a store. He enjoys it most with the heated seat on high and the AC on full blast.

I wonder what would have happened if that guy was accused of bestiality . . . A very good law school exam question.

I would support a police beating of this stupid woman so that she will grow some sense next time...and of course her dog will be confiscated and rehomed to someone with a brain. Come on, folks, anyone who is so stupid as to not realize how hot a car gets in the summer and need a police officer to show them should not be wasting food and water...

I'm amazed that people approve of this. The last thing we need is cops making up their own original punishments for various offenses and dishing them out on the spot.
