Pony up. Or else. Simple as that. If he prices himself out, a competitor will come along.

It sucks but that's life.

In America maybe. Oh, Canada, you look more and more inviting as time goes by. I guess I'll just have to get used to your inferior measuring systems. (Seriously, Celsius sucks for weather)

Increases in the standard of living of mankind is directly linked to how much economic (and political) freedom exists to allow inventions, creations and life changing prescription drugs.

Capitalism is responsible for the existence of the drug mentioned by the OP, and capitalism is responsible for the increase in cost.

Too many socialists want to have their cake and eat it too. And while doing it off the back of capitalism.
Except many inventions and advances were made for the betterment of humanity and not the almighty dollar. Actually many inventors and scientists are left leaning. Only after their idea is sold to others does capitalism come into play. You are way overplaying the hand capitalism plays in innovation. Big time.

America needs an injection of Bernie Sanders followed by a regular course of progressive candidates to replace politicians suffering from K Streetpuppetitus. This and a regular regimen of programs of social uplift, jobs, living wages, education......and America may be on the way to a cure which will not only be good for us but for the world. Some of the worst effects of or national sickness can be seen globally."

I'll add the Wright Brothers, Einstein and Nikola Tesla to that list.

If you are truly upset by the situation, put your money where your mouth is. Buy the medication, and then re-sell at your acceptable price. Or better yet, put together an investment group, buy the company, and then charge what you see as an acceptable price.

You won't do either one of those things, because you are all talk. You want things to be the way you want them, but you won't put up your money to do so.

You may not realize it, but people like you are irrelevant in the market.
Truly disgusting piece of ****ing **** philosophy for anyone to have.

Vile.

right. profits are capitalized so a few thousand people around the world profit.

Losses are socialized. He declares bankruptcy and goes to the government teet.

Think about it. If most healthcare costs are in the last couple years of our life.... we have been paying all while working to private insurance. In the last few years, we go on Social Security and medicare. So the companies collect money on premiums all along. Then when it comes time to pay out, and fund our healthcare as seniors, the government (paid for by the middle class) does it.

Typical. Just like environmental externalities. Losses are socialized. (i.e. polluted water causes cancer that medicaid pays for) When it comes to profit, people have been brainwashed into oh yes capitalism it's the best, it does.... umm.. innovation! But when it comes time for wealthy people like The Donald Trump to suck it up and lose it all to the market... well, nope. They get to declare bankruptcy and keep their mansions. Only us ordinary middle class folk have to bear their burden, and keep paying student loans etc.

That's what conservative idealogues on Fox try to hide. It's an us vs. them, and believe me, everyone last person here on City Data is an us. The rich, the them, are about a few thousand people in the whole world. The 0.1%. We are all working for them. If you want to defend that then ok. Maybe you like being Uncle Tom. Maybe you are a masochist. Whatever. But let's get real.

I proudly support Bernie Sanders. #FeelTheBern
