We have a "for profit" healthcare system, and now on top of that it's a mandated for profit system.
This is the only place for drug manufacturers to go to make their big bucks. Otherwise they'd just make a modest living. Poor CEO's)
Our health is just like an orange to these people. We do need to **** or get off the pot though. Right now we have a leg in social government and a leg in our capitalist government. Neither will work well this way. But, alas, we are young. Maybe we will learn in another hundred years or so when we resemble South America.
I don't like Bernie, but a mix seems...well, let me put it another way. Instead of worrying so much about whether our system is capitalistic OR socialistic, maybe we should make our system PRAGMATIC.

The only problem I have with him is his hawkish stand on foreign policy, especially on the Palestinian crisis.

So, someone chooses to not part with their property at a price that you deem acceptable, and your conclusion is they are "evil." Do you come to the same conclusion about everyone that charges a higher price than you like? For a new car? For a gallon of milk? For gasoline?
How does our defense spending and incarceration compare to those of North Korea? Or do they economize on incarceration by simply executing most of them instead? And maybe draft most of the population into the military, but not pay them much, to keep their military costs down?
That's the best you can do is to compare the U.S. to North Korea, you do have low standards.

How can you compare a life saving drug to the price of a automobile, it boggles my mind.
I need to turn a profit is the defacto go to excuse for rich white folks raping the common man. The pill costs a dollar to make and probably 5-10 bucks in additional costs. This demon could easily make a profit charging 30-50 bucks for it, but whites, being the lecherous soul less scavengers they are, saw an opening and decided to go for the jugular.
Some say costs could run as high as a billion dollars to bring a life saving drug to the marketplace so drug companies have a right to recoup their monies, fair enough.
We spend around 600 billion on defense, actually it is well over that but that is a debate for a different thread.
Much waste in defense budget, one just have to look at the F35.
We could take a 100 billion from that bloated budget and still be out spending the world on defense and create a 100 life saving medicines a year, and who knows maybe find an actual cure to many diseases.
Perhaps the cheerleaders for this dirtbag could just stuff Ayn Rands books up their collective rear ends if they or someone they care about should ever require this drug. Start with Atlas Shrugged. Morally bankrupt sociopaths would be the only one's who think this is A-Ok. Oddly, it is not surprising with some of the posters around here.
