So, honestly, I'm kinda curious about CD's filters and whether they'll get this.
I think it's a rather large to-do about nothing.. Some of you have probably seen the news article already.. Cake order is sent in to Publix with the following phrase
"Congratulations, Jacob. Summa *** Laude Class of 2018"
Obviously, the Publix cake ordering system has a word filter on it.. Just as one is here.. Certain words, like "***" are blocked out for being 'dirty' words. It's just a flat filter, it doesn't check for context. I'll be a little surprised, honestly, if it is not blocked here as well.
At the end of the day.. Call the store and tell them what you want on the cake. And Publix should probably consider unblocking that word, as it has legitimate uses, especially around this time of year.
They refunded the cake and gave a gift card as an apology.. More than fair.
LOL... There's all kinds of stupid within this story. First, with the Publix employee for not checking to see why the computer software was censoring the word.
Second, for the parent for not correcting them.
Third, what kind of phony BS is this? Summa *** Laude is a college thing. This kid is graduating HS. Since when does one graduate High School Summa *** Laude? Add to that the fact that he's home schooled...?
Apparently, no one working at Publix ever did well enough in school (or knew anyone who did well enough in school) to merit any kind of recognition expressed in Latin. Otherwise, surely someone would have known what it was and intervened appropriately.
Maybe not. There is apparently no limit to the range and degree of stupidity humans can demonstrate.
That is so hilarious that as the graduate, I'd have taken a hundred pics of it, and it would be all over SM. 'Cause...that's way too fun and full of awesome.

Well... maybe the employee did check.
I mean, come on. What are the odds that a Publix cake decorator is familiar with lingo pertaining to graduating with honor? Not good.
He probably looked up the blocked word and thought to himself: "I dunno know 'summa' and 'laude' mean but that dude has one raunchy Mom!"
This is so funny. I don't understand being upset about it. Its just funny. I am sure grandma either didn't need a full explanation or is worldly enough to roll with it. There are a bunch of funny cakes online. I have noticed that a lot of people who don't speak English well, or it isn't their first language work in bakeries. I think that's why there are so many funny cake mistakes in the writing. Google it.

I feel the same way. OMG I'd be laughing...and showing everybody...and yeah...I think even Grandma's going to be able to figure this one out...nobody got hurt, just hilarious.
I almost wonder if it isn't just some sort of prank. I admit I haven't read the article.
