Yes I notice a big uptick in calls. I got some free antivirus phone software that blocks them after I enter their number in my blocked callers list. If I get a call from a scammer, which I don't answer, I type it in google to see if its been reported as a scam call, then input it in the phone block app on my phone antivirus software. Then, it doesn't even ring, any subsequent calls by the scammer are blocked. I can look up recent calls and see they attempted to call me but it never rang. I am on the do not call list as well, it made no difference.

I'm pretty sure taxpayer money goes to the department running the do not call registry. If they can't be effective in stopping these calls, maybe their funding should be cut off until they do something about it. I was never rewarded for bad behavior. Why should they?

Nothing for a couple of weeks, but hammered for the two months prior.

This when the power button comes in handy.
It's also what to use if you get a pop up that prevents you from doing anything else and you know better than to click on that X thinking it will close it.

The data breech from Equifax?
DH and I haven't gotten any at all; we don't have a land line. My parents get them all the time on their land line but never on their cell phones.

I received an extended car warranty scam yesterday, with a spoofed number local to my phone's area code. I told them I wasn't interested.

If someone asks me for money, I tell them that I give through payroll deduction at work. If they are an obvious scam, I ask for their fax number and tell them that I will fax them the cash.

Better yet just go to task manager and kill your browser session. (ALT-CTRL-DELETE) When you sign back in it will ask if you want to restore your last browser session; just click no.

How could anyone possibly notice?

While one individual's phone number might correlate with a nationwide trend affecting hundreds of millions of numbers, it cannot mathematically be anywhere close to statistically representative.

News breaks about a data breech, and suddenly people are noticing the effects... even though they didn't notice those effects for several months after the breech happened but before it made national news.

Confirmation bias in action.

I must be special

I now don't answer my phone when I get unknown caller. In fact I usually didn't answer these calls before unless I was unsure if it was somebody I thought I knew that I had business with.

Guess what? They still call. Then they stop for a while. Then it starts up again. They will call several times a day or more for weeks. Then nothing. Don't answer doesn't stop them. I block every number, but we all know that doesn't work.

Glad I'm old because I won't have to put up with phone and internet scams that much longer.
