Cruise ship lines are sued all the time. They are required to designate a jurisdiction where passengers may seek legal redress, and this information is available right on the ticket. In Carnival's case, this would the Federal Court in Miami.

In no universe do cruise ship employees staff resort properties as part of " private party." This was a shore excursion, which are typical in ports of call.

I don't want to speculate but it doesn't smell like a legit case. Especially for workers they know how difficult is to deal with Karens I doubt this is legit and the women refuses a rape kit shows they just wanna use their story as evidence.

That nurse seemed convinced they were drugged. And they had 2 of the large drinks in the fancy fish-shaped containers, there is no indication they had more, in fact by the time they were blood tested there was zero alcohol in their blood. They said the employees offered them buy one get one free (normally those drinks are $15-$20 a piece). But they probably offered because there were drugs in them. When they blood tested the girls there was NO alcohol in them, but there were opiates and benzodiazepines in their system. And witnesses including the nurse practitioner corroborate the bruises on them afterward when they got back on the excursion boat to go to the ship.

They refused to go to the hospital only because the cruise ship told them if they went, there was no guarantee they'd be able to get back on the ship in time, and they didn't have passports. They said Bahamian police refused to give them a rape kit. I don't see anything stating the cruise line did. Both the cruise line and the Bahamas have a vested interest in trying to cast doubt on the story.

So. This appears to be the usual case, that the truth is in the middle.

Claim by the women: Bahamian authorities dismissed their claims, and didn't offer a rape kit or even take them seriously. They had almost nothing to drink, and were drugged.
Claim by Bahamas: the investigators immediately got on it, advising the girls to go to the hospital by medical transit, and the girls refused. So the Bahamas medical team boarded the cruise ship and supplied them with the rape and tox kits. They'd gotten several drinks, and were drunk.
Apparent reality: the women had 3+ drinks each, were falling down drunk at 10 a.m., although the alcohol was out of their system when "at a later time" they were tox tested.

We all saw the video, and saw the drinks, and heard them claim they had several drinks. The fact that they tested negative for alcohol is VERY telling - that test was done possibly 24 hours after this event.

There is some confusion about what the men will be charged with, if anything, but they were fired for fraternizing with guests.

The cruise line has zero to benefit from "casting doubt" on the women's story. If the women are telling the truth, this is a HUGE ding on Carnival for not publicly supporting them. No women want to feel vulnerable and thrown under the bus by the cruise line they trust to take care of them.

Carnival is in a VERY precarious position, cancelling the "beach and lunch" excursion in Freeport and REFUNDING the future travelers money. Meaning, it was a sanctioned excursion. They're caught between CYA from two directions - denying it was an excursion, and further vulnerability of their travelers.

Who knows what the money that will be refunded was to pay for - maybe just lunch, maybe lunch and one drink, and after that you were on your own with a cash bar. Or maybe the beach was private and that gained the traveler access to the resort and you paid for everything else.

I'm just going to leave this here. https://www.mexicovacationawareness..../older-stories

It turns out that the resorts are one of the most dangerous places you can be. that's where they prey upon you if you're a tourist. Travel websites like to sweep this stuff under the rug. the above website was created out of frustration and to get the truth out. Read story after story of people being victimized at the resorts.

As another poster mentioned above, the world is becoming less civilized and more barbaric. Watch where you travel. It ain't 1988 no more.

They were not drunk. I posted a link showing they had zero alcohol in their system when they were blood tested. What they had in their system was opiates and benzodiazapenes (like Xanax). Which corroberates their claim thet were drugged.

Again, they only refused to go to the hospital (where the rape kit would be administered) because the cruise ship told them they couldn't wait for them. Then they are stuck there with no passports, and having to arrange/pay for their own way home.

What they are angry with Carnival about, was failing to report the new warnings issued by the State Department about sex crimes in the Bahamas. Of course they stand to benefit by casting doubt on their story, it makes Carnival look bad. As well as the Bahamas.

Even if they were drunk at 10am. so what? That was the purpose of the excursion, of vacation. Lots of people drink to excess on vacation. It doesn't make rape less of a crime.

According to the Miami-based ambulance chaser (Nicholas Gerson) the two women have hired, one of the drugs the two women tested positive for was cocaine, which typically isn't used to "spike drinks."
