Most are visa/green card holders or first generation citizens coming for mild winters, affordable new housing, excellent suburban schools, tech/healthcare jobs, direct flights to Asia, abundance of ethnic grocery/restaurants/social scene/worship centers.

Kids who are born here don't seem to follow herd mentality.

Several times in my company I've talked on the phone to people I presumed by their accents were from Texas or Alabama or South Carolina...then met them and discovered they were Indian.

But, no, wait...they were from Texas or Alabama or South Carolina--it was their parents who were from India.

It's been demonstrated that young children adopt the accents of their neighborhoods more typically than the accents of their parents.

I am sick and tired of people like you. You claim everyone is racist or a bigot. The post your referring to actually explains a lot. For some reason you think I am racist if I think the same way as South Asians.

I get why they want would want to move to an area where there other like them I applaud them for doing so. But if there moving here because they want to socialize with other Indian families then what makes you think I am racist for thinking the same thing.

I have no issue with them as neighbors but when you BBQ steak in your backyard and then your neighbors complains it makes him sick you have wonder especially when you live in Texas. I also agree it hard to relate to someone if they have a different religion, eat different things and watch different sports and different values on how family should live in the same household.

My kids have same problem in school and actually have been the ones to bring up why there are not more people like them. My daughter was told only Christmas was made up and she is a gullible Christian. I would think that most people would agree that is an issue. These are kids so you have to expect this sort of thing. But it a makes me think that area is changing. This after all is the Bible belt and 20 years ago that kid would have had a talking too by the school for saying anything like that and possibly expelled.

There is nothing wrong with this type of thing but at certain point you have to ask yourself is the the same place I moved to. I believe it a big reason you are seeing such an increase in certain areas. There is a lot areas I can move to they can't. The bigger question is to move somewhere that makes sense for me.

Your posts sound like you are sick and tired of South Asians. It's full of, "I'm not racist/bigoted BUT..." types of statements and makes you sound like you are complaining about South Asians moving into your neighborhood. "I don't want them flocking to my neighborhood or sending their kids to school with mine, BUT, I DO love their food."

I wouldn't go out of my way to live in a predominantly Indian neighborhood if it meant feeling isolated.

This idea that people need to embrace each other is silly. Tolerance is about as far as I would expect from anybody. Acceptance should be to anyone's discretion.

I lived in a neighborhood with lots of Indians "South Asians" and lots of Russians "Eastern Europeans" before. Wasn't fond of either.

Thankfully we don't live in a world where questioning Christianity will get a kid "talked to" anymore.

Sorry, you're the one being offensive. There's absolutely nothing wrong with preferring one thing over another.

I do think you have some valid points. People are accepting as long as you are parroting what's politically correct to say. The minute you don't you're suddenly not allowed to have your own opinion or you're labeled racist.
