The is also why relative humidity should be dropped.
The reason we don't get much snow is that it is warm here. Even in our dryest months we get about 2 inches of rain. That's easily over 2 feet of snow. Again, we don't get snow because it isn't cold enough for snow most days.

The humidity is lowest in the summer and climbs through the fall/winter before a brief decline and then blip in May.

The wind is strongest in the cooler months.

As far as the relative humidity goes: Like I said, it rarely freezes here, so much so that if it does we issue a freeze warning. Our humidity stays pretty high in the winter months as a result when it floats around the 40s and 50s with high humidity.

I know you don't believe me but with the humidity and wind, it feels colder here when it is 40 than it does in the mountain west at 25. That's a function of the humidity/ wind.

Well, because it's the end of fall and this is Dallas "Winter" weather. Plus it often ends up being 75 in January anyway. So our seasons go more along the lines of "Hot" and "Anything Can Happen" weather the other half of the year.

It's not "the end of fall." It's the middle of fall.

October 31/November 1st are "cross-quarter days" which mark the middle point between an equinox and a solstice.

And yes that was my point, we are experiencing winter weather in fall.

I agree with your point of "hot" and "anything can happen."

59 and sunny today - that’s a glorious fall afternoon in Dallas to me!

Yes, it seems we skipped over that nice couple week stretch of 70’s highs this year and had a few unusually cold days (after the hottest September on record ever), but the 10-day forecast looks like “fall” to me. Mostly highs in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s.

Texas weather is a roller coaster, that’s for sure.

Oh I see what you are saying. I tend to think of Dec, Jan, Feb as winter, March, April, May as spring, Jun, July, Aug as Summer and Sept, Oct, Nov as Fall.

Nov being the on the waining side of fall Thanksgiving being at the very tail end.

But yeah, according to the Equinox and Solstice you are totally correct.

I was just thinking along the lines that our winter has begun early this year since this is winter weather for us.

Yep, that's what I mean. It felt as if we had only a couple of those perfect (to me) put the top down on the car days. It felt like we went from 92 to 42.

And yes the forecast looks promising.

Gotcha.

Well, at this point it might be 80 on Christmas.

I tend to think of Spring/Fall days as days with a high temperature between 65-85. There have been very few of those. A 60 degree is Fall in the Northeast but not in Texas.

No.
Fall can be cold.

Typical swings.
We've had some gorgeous weather with more to come next week.

Fall is my favorite season here.

What we skip far more often is a real winter.

I heard today that what has happened this year is that the months got randomized.

This year we had January........February......March......April..... .May...... June....July....August......June.....December and we have two more months to go.
