FINALLY getting some snow here (Preston Center). Looks to only be sticking to roof tops though.

I'm kinda bummed.. all this talk about inches of snow, and it's just coming down wet on the roads. I wanted snow, not ice! Oh well.. maybe we'll have another chance for snow before the season is out. I doubt it :/

Here we go again... let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Looks like it is sticking this time.

Did someone say they wanted snow, well you've got it and more!

The pics and reports on the weather channel are showing really bad traffic pileups all around the area right now, i.e., I75 going southbound from Sherman into Dallas closed at Melissa, I30 at I35 at a complete standstill, etc.,
w/visibility down to 1/2 mile.

Hope all of you get where you need to go... like home... safely today, please take extra special care!

Everyone at my corporate office panicking and evacuating lol. Coming from Illinois to here its hilarious to my wife and I how crazy people get over a 1/8" of snow. We understand the area isnt set up for it, its just funny to us how a foot of snow wouldn't close an office in Illinois, but less than an inch here can shut everything down.

It's because we:
  • Don't have all-weather tires or snow tires
  • Don't have the means or inclination to treat all major roads
  • Don't have as much experience driving on ice/snow
  • Have road surfaces that are not designed for this type of weather so they ice up much more quickly

In Illinois, you deal with a foot of snow because it snows a LOT there. You have your own ways of dealing with it. Here, we don't have this kind of weather all that often so it's not a huge deal to bail early and finish the day from home.

That's what I did. I left the office 90 minutes ago, arrived home, set up my laptop, and resumed my work day. Better safe than sorry.

I avoided the highways and took major surface roads home. They were getting slick on my way home. Glad I left when I did. I only got my new car in October, I don't want it damaged.

That's why it's always best to just stay home and not get out there among all of the crazies here if you value your life and/or auto at all... you'll learn!
