Small update: still waiting on a start date from WP. Frusterating but I know it will come through eventually. Does anyone know of an extended stay hotel with suites in the area of the base with a pool for the kids that also accepts pets?

Any tips on how to find a good realtor? We can't buy until our house here sells and we can't list until we have a start date.

Still planning to come out in a few weeks just to scope out neighborhoods and schools.

Beavercreek and Vandalia (70/75 interchange) have a number of hotels, a few of which are Residence Inn by Marriott, Hawthorn Suites, Extended Stay America, etc. Between the two there are probably somewhere around 10 options. So I'd start there. Dayton Mall area might have some too.

Tips for finding a good Realtor? I'd ask for recommendations here!

I know a couple good ones for points north of town. I can send you their information via PM if you would like. Others probably have some recommendations for other parts of town.

Ah, good luck and have fun!

And there are a lot of places in the valley that are just as nice as, if not nicer than, Bellbrook. Earlier I know I listed about 20 communities, and honestly I think any of them would be a good fit. So look around and have fun with it! You might be surprised by what you like best.

Thanks it's so difficult to know what we will like by just looking on the internet. Lots of driving to do. Depending on how much we can get done with a 3 year old and a 9 month old along for the ride. Man I wish the grandparents lived closer!

In order to simplify your search I would recommend getting in touch with a local realtor. Although they're a seller's agent (and aren't really working for you), they are certainly someone who can point you in the right direction. Basically, you'll give them your parameters - your price range, your school district, and your work location, they'll fire up the MLS listings, and give you a list of 5-10 homes that meet your criteria.

Good luck with the house hunt! Something will surely fall into place. And agreed on Bellbrook having low housing stock. And what is available tends to be in a higher price range.

Actually, this is a common misunderstanding; this is called Buyer's Agency and they are absolutely working for their clients. The commission they earn is split between the Seller's Agent and the Buyer's Agent; there is typically no cost to the buyer.
