LOL @ cursing the computer - YOU CAN DO IT!! I have faith in your learning ability .
Maybe move really important things back and up as much as possible in case? Can you get some sandbags and put them outside the door to help block seepage under the door?

I saved some pavers from when my paver patio was installed -- so, if it looks like the water is going to come into the house, I can try to put pavers underneath some of the furniture.
I wish I had as much faith in my learning ability as you do. When I last set up a computer, almost 11 years ago, I hadnt been doing online banking/bill paying and didnt have any bookmarks (now I have thousands and use a lot of them regularly) -- also didnt have colors/fonts set up the way I like on my previous computer -- and also wasnt using a non-internet-based email service (Earthlink Total Access). And Windows XP was so easy -- I just plugged in my computer and was able to start using it right away. I dont know why Microsoft had to go and make things so complicated with Windows 8/8.1.
I'm using 7 so no clue about 8/8.1.... BUT!!! I bought (stupidly) Windows 7 for Dummies Book/CD - never used it - if you get to a 7, I'll mail it to you.
Batten down the hatches, me Hardies. Bill is going to hit you before he storms up to the DFW area.
We're still soaked up here and I know y'all are, too. Take good care.

Just went out to get the mail ( no freebies...) and it's really eerie out. You can tell something is brewing. I live on a corner lot coming into the neighborhood and our two little creeks on either side started running over the road the last time it rained. I'm good where I'm at but the neighborhood gets closed off pretty good.

Had some friends years back that lived in a flood zone. She guessed to put her furniture up on can goods. Worked for her.
Southwest Houston (my area) was supposed to get the brunt of the storm. So far, I havent gotten even one drop of rain. The rain is apparently swirling all around me but, if you check the radar, you'll see a small clear spot -- that's me.
Edited to add that my new computer is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I may pay all my bills and do whatever else is necessary on my current computer before trying to set up the new one. Ugh.
Well, just after I posted the above, the rains started here at my house. Not too bad yet though. At least I wont have to worry about losing power when watching the NBA Finals Gamer 6 in a couple of minutes. I dont usually follow basketball much anymore, except for my home team, but this game should be great.
The big news here is the weather (again). Some parts of Houston (not mine) had heavy rain and flooding Saturday. More rain is supposed to start tonight due to a tropical storm coming in -- and should last until Wednesday. More flooding for those poor people who havent yet recovered from the flooding three weeks ago. I'm close to Braes Bayou, the bayou that flooded so badly last time, and I had water almost to my doorstep last time. Praying that it doesnt come into my house this time. I have flood insurance but only on the dwelling, not the contents. (Since I'm in a flood zone, flood insurance is very expensive.)
So, if you dont hear from me for a while, I'm either cursing out Windows 8.1 or trying to dry out.

Maybe time to get the kayaks out!
I had to come by cuz I was worried about you guys! I've been watching the weather closely, thinking about how dry it was in Texas for so long, and if the land can take all this new rain. I've been thinking about you guys and hoping you all are safe. Got my fingers crossed for you, dears!
I've missed all my friends here, think about you guys now & then.
Also, I just have to say [quote] Thqucikbrwnfxjumpdverthelaydg ooooeez. [/endquote] Too funny! (But sorry about your PC problems. I had to "refresh" Foxfire cuz I was having troulbes too.)
I hope that all of you in Bill's path will come through it safely.
Your friend, Starr
