This late Thanksgiving date has thrown a monkey wrench into my regular Christmas decorating. So, I guess, Happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas, everyone!
So I have been taken over by "common sense" this year. As I said earlier, I always wait til Thanksgiving to start Christmas decorating. Now we are going to have a mad dash for Christmas after Thursday, and today our weather is supposed to go from best to worst, so I am giving in and I am going to start today inside and then on Monday or Tuesday do the outside when it is warm. Mr. Nuts2uiam, made the observation that I am really late by last years date which was the 22nd. That resonated with me for some reason, despite my own knowledge that this was the latest that Thanksgiving could ever be. So I will be pulling on my crappy clothes and turning it from fall to winter in a few minutes. The tree will not go up until around the 14/15th and then the magic will be full tilt.

Happy Anny to Mr. and Mrs. RDLR, many more.

Thanks, Nuts.
One thing I WON'T do before Thanksgiving, is, I'm not turning the outside Christmas lights on, until the end of Thanksgiving weekend. Mr. RDLR, however, is in full Christmas mood, dances down the stairs each morning, with his replacement hip in tact, and immediately turns on the lights on the living room Christmas tree before he begins his "everyday job" ...... setting up the breakfast bar with perked coffee, hazelnut creamer, toasted bagels and whipped cream cheese (must have regular whipped and berry whipped on hand at all times). Then, the CD player is cranked up, playing his favorite Christmas songs. I just sit quietly in my wing back chair and let him do his thing, which is one reason why we've lasted 60 years.

Thank you, rdlr. Mom didn't, and I don't, appreciate most Christmas lights before Thanksgiving. I don't mind white lights. They light up the darkness. I really like when people turn on their lights in January. It's such a dark and dreary time of year.

My outside decorations are very simple There is a lighted garland archway over the portico and a wreath on the railing all in clear lights and then the nativity scene with a single spot light in the center of the lawn. Most of the neighbors put their light on the 1st week of Dec. and I will follow suit. I am one of the few that leaves them on til the Epiphany though, most are off with the New Year as is the tree down.

Our outside decorations are pretty simple, too, Nuts. We do white lights on a small porch tree, and garland white lights around the double windows on the porch. Last year I added 2 blue spot lights to shine on the house, which I really like. I have a pretty large box of Christmas decorations that I'm putting out on the curb Friday. Over the years, all that stuff has mushroomed. Every year, I drag it all down 3 flights, do the decorating, and end up dragging lots of it back up that I don't really use. So this year, I'm cleaning out.

Yep, anything I put on the curb is picked up by neighbors in our little town who need/want it. It's never out there long. There's a "plus" to that. I see a lady walking past my house frequently on her way to the bus stop. The purse she carries, looks very much like the one I put out on the curb, along with some other items.

I am thinking of starting a fall vegetable garden, now that my summer plants are close to finished. Rather than growing from seed, does anyone know of any greenhouse or similar place that sells plants, like spinach, Swiss Chard, broccoli, etc. Thanks.
