My dog eats hill's prescription science diet canine c/d. It's usually $50+. Today I went to buy more and it's now $75!! I don't know how long I can afford that! I read a thread about this back in August 08'. My dog has had very large stones removed but I don't know what type of crystals they found in it. Does anyone know of a book or a way to make food for my dog that would not increase her ph levels? I just don't know if I can continue to afford this food, these prices are out of control! I've looked at many websites, but the prices are the same. One website had it for $53 but shipping was over $20, so it came out to be the same as the vets office. Any help/advice is much appreciated!

I buy from the manufacturer's website, personally. Timberwolf ships for free for orders greater than a certain dollar amount (?$15). Check with Science diet's website or Amazon but the shipping will be high due to weight.

Seems alot of dog food has gone up. Havent bought food at a grocery store or supermarket since he was a month old so no sure about prices there. The dogfood at the feed store only went up $4, which is good vs what yours went up.

I'm paying $30 for a 15 pound bag of Wellness core.

For that price Jmdaver I'd be looking for a new food!

I was paying 32.00 for a 40lb. bag of Nutro and sometimes they added 10% more in the bag for the same price. Not anymore. The price for the same size bag is now 42.00
That was a big jump in price. All my big dogs are on the same food except Jenny and that bag lasts me almost 3 weeks.
Right now I am looking for a good no salt added dry food for Jenny. She has been on Purina NF.

I agree, the price of most dogs food has skyrocketed! But the way I look at it...pay a little bit more for the better quality of food...and in your case, for the better health of the dog...or pay huge vet bills down the road.

Perhaps you can find another food with the same ingredients as the one you're feeding now? Buying from a feed store is usually cheaper, too.
