There will always be a need for people with no aptitude for science or math: daycare workers, tax attorneys, house painters & plumbers, public relations people, relationship advice, social workers, chefs, etc.

Larry Summers was President of Harvard University. He was fired for saying pretty much what you just said. The Progressive Orthodoxy contends that the sole reason for the disparity in gender representation in tenured faculty is because of gender-based discrimination, and they found Summers' comments so offensive that he was booted out.

I mean organize them, put them in folders and such so I don’t have to scroll through 500 photos to find the one I want.

That’s cause college kids are snowflakes now who feel attacked by just about anything. Education does have biases, but there are genetic differences. That’s why we can’t parallel park, lol.

Capitalism may be unfolding as Marx predicted, but Socialism/Communism sure didn't.

Bye-bye.

The data say otherwise. Of course, in any field and in any city, YMMV -- but in aggregate across the nation, we have a shortage of skilled potential employees...

Finland has run a real-world Universal Basic Income (UBI) experiment with 2000 randomly selected unemployed people beginning in January 2017.

Finland is terminating its experiment after preliminary data showed recipients became lazy, didn't bother to look for work, and played more video games.

Whodathinkit.

True - but in Larry Summer's case, is was female faculty members on the progressive left who found his comments abhorrent and orchestrated a massive uprising.

Get and education or get skills that are in demand!!! You don't have to work in one of the STEM fields. There are lots and lots of opportunities now and projected for the future.
Where are all these STEM jobs at?

When my bff went to pharmacy school it was one of the hottest jobs around, now it’s been saturated for at least 10 years, with more grads than jobs and lower salaries.

And again you are ignoring that not all kids are college material and more narrow still are those who will thrive in STEM jobs. Do you think every truck driver can just go for a degree as a scientist when his truck becomes self-driving?

.........

Actually there are a large number of occupations that are very likely to be in high demand in the future. STEM jobs are actually more risky than many other jobs. Technology is changing rapidly so the skills needed to maintain employment in tech jobs can change rapidly. If you are preparing for a career or a less than middle aged worker, I strongly suggest you do some serious research. It is also a poor idea to get training and then think you will be set for life. For virtually every job it is necessary to learn new skills, keep up to date and sometimes change fields.

It is interesting that you mentioned pharmacy. I have never understood the reason that every drug store in the country needs to be staffed with pharmacists. I seemed like at total shame. Doctors do the prescribing. Doctors should know their patients including other drugs and conditions that interfere. In fact I have never had a pharmacist ask me any questions or give any advice. I just get handed a bottle of pills.

As to the number of kids who are "college material", I would include 90% based on capability. Preference, ambition, and the desire to work for a career are entirely different issues. Some people are just not going to do what it takes to succeed.

Being a truck driver is already a poor career choice. The skills are mostly physical and relatively easily taught. Anyone seriously interested in a good paying job with a long term future should consider something else requiring a higher level of skill, and no that does not need to mean being a scientist.

Nationwide, unemployment in most STEM jobs is less than 3%. If you want more details such as geographical locations and different types of jobs, you can start on the BLS website.

If you want an even shorter answer, most STEM jobs are going to be in urban areas.
