So if their platform doesnt include winning, why are they are spending tens of millions? Why would I vote for someone not smart enough to realize they'd have the same result if they'd save their money and not run?

Gary Johnson loves freedom too much to be a successful candidate in today's authoritarian, theocratic GOP.

The fact that he doesn't hate gay people and promise to treat them as second class citizens made him a pariah to most of the bigoted Teapublican base.

Party platform - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
A party platform or platform is a list of the actions which a political party, individual candidate, or other organization supports in order to appeal to the general public for the purpose of having said peoples' candidates voted into political office or the professed opinion(s) proposed as part of law(s) or otherwise made into social policies.

Now as for the question you asked:
I like his policies towards internet freedom, ending the drug war, civil liberties an most of his kind-of naive foreign policy stances. However, his economic, taxation and government spending policies are phoned-in talking points that assume private resources will step up and provide infrastructure, education and other services that have not historically been profitable. Also, relying on taxing consumption would lower consumption, create a black market and be a burden on those who spend the greatest percentage of their income on consumption. In short, he has disastrous economic idea.

So, personal liberty: Yes. Economics: No way, Jose.
Taxing consumption would be better than taxing income. It's been proven. If you had deflation and a lot more money to spend you aren't going to miss an extra 1% on a consumption tax which is all it would need to be. People aren't going to not spend their money if they have to pay such an insignificant amount extra considerinig they'd have a LOT MORE disposable income in the first place. It is much more regressive to tax income or revenues or profits.

He only wants to audit the fed I think the fed needs destroyed.

I MIGHT give him a chance come November simply to make sure my vote is recorded and its against the 2 idiots running and it might actually help the Libertarian party.
good post and my line of thinking is basically the same as yours, as I don't agree with those things either. Didn't realize G. Johnson favors all of those, was thinking I may vote for him since he is at least representing the Libertarian party.

Looks like I may not be voting or will write in Ron Paul.

I may vote for Johnson simply because 1. He will be on the ballot 2. It might actually help the Libertarian party candidate in 2016 get matching funds. 3. I love pissing off people.

I disagree with trying to run a country with darwinism lifestyle. I'm only 30, and i'm black, and the 1950's didnt look great from what I read in history books, and i have no use to go back to that in 2016.

All depends on the next 4 years. I really can't say if they will or not. But with matching funds at least they can make headway in putting ads on the air and getting into debates hopefully. People can't vote for someone they don't know exists.
