Depends.

Are you saying that anyone who lives in Hawaii is not middle class? His grandparents lived there. So everyone living in Hawaii is rich?

Did he pay for his tuition to Columbia and Harvard? Scholarships, loans, what? That makes a difference too.

My kids attend private school. I assure you, we are middle class. They aren't all expensive.

If you want to tell me he living in a mansion in Hawaii, paid his own way through Columbia and Harvard, and went to an elite private prep school paid for by his grandparents, then yes, I would agree, that's not middle class.

Voting for Obama and my tax rate is my personal business.

I have to write a check every April, and I'll leave it at that.

Ridiculous.

It's the liberal MSNBC mantra and if MSNBC says so, it's true.

A certain segment of society (Obama voters) aren't smart enough to think for themselves or add 2+2. If they had the slightest business sense or math skills, they would never, ever vote for 0bama.

Romney definition in 2008 was under $200,000. I suspect Michelle was making above $35,000 a year.

Lots of elderly folks here on limited incomes.

I just checked my tax form before I voted because I wasn't sure. What can I say?

Quite right. But still, the fact that equal numbers of liars, if that's what they are, support Obama, Romney, and third-party candidates is still somewhat interesting...

I have absolutely no disdain for the rich. None whatsoever. I want to be one, one day. However, if you are a filthy rich presidential candidate, you better sure as hell be honest about it and not try to con me into trying to believe that you understand my middle-class or poverty strife. You better also show me how you are looking out for my interests (and that doesn't mean freebies). Romney is having a hard time pulling that off.

Let's face it--most presidential candidates these days come from wealth. The latest exception or the closest to actually experiencing middle class has been Obama, although by the time he ran for President he was definitely in the upper ranks of middle class based on the combined income of his household. Other "wealthy" presidential candidates have never had this much trouble trying to connect with voters of lower economic levels.
I don't need someone who has been poor to be president. I just want someone that can fix this broken economy and government. A rising tide lifts all boats. Romney is going to free up business to expand and create more jobs. He will do it by:
1. Getting rid of stupid regulations that are stopping lending and business investment
2. lowering tax rates 20% to everyone, while eliminating many write-offs for the rich
3. unleashing the oil and gas industry to make us energy independent while creating high paying jobs and increasing revenue. This will also take money away from Middle East countries that hate us.
4. Bringing government spending to realistic levels of 20% of GDP where they were before Obama

From an article written in 2008:

I'm quite sure they were making about that much. That is a typical salary for their profession in the DC area. Even if both of them were making it in the DC area, they would not have been considered "rich" but definitely upper middle class and living quite decently. My cousin and her husband make about that much a piece and their lifestyle is fairly modest because they live close in to the city, they have a child in daycare, and their COL is fairly high. But, yes, they are very comfortable.

Actually, it was Bill Clinton who artfully demonstrated during the convention that knowledge of math will lead to a vote for the Democrats.

Also, people who know math are smart people. Rick Santorum already admitted that "educated, smart people" don't vote Republican.

I don't think anyone's asking for a poor president. I think the discussion was about why people were disdaining Romney's wealth but not JayZ's? I don't disdain anyone's wealth and I don't care if they are president. All the presidents of late have been fairly wealthy or very, very, very comfortable. The issue that this has evolved into is why are people hating on Romney's wealth? My argument is that they are not. They don't care for his lack of relatability to the unwealthy. He's bad at it. George Bush, who was wealthy, seemed to not have this problem.
