No, you didn't actually come out say he was "wealthy." You said "in your world, he is not middle class." So, if he's not middle class, and he's not poor, then you are stating that he was wealthy. And he is wealthy, per you, because he lived in Hawaii and went to Columbia and a private school. Now, if you can state that his family was able to pay for all of those things, then I would agree that he grew up wealthy. I actually have no clue of how his tuition was paid. Maybe he was wealthy or his family was. That's not the general impression that I got. I certainly don't think he was poor, though. But, you have to admit that he is as CLOSE to middle class as any president we've had in my memory.

I expanded on my thoughts above. He went on scholarships for his schooling. In other words he had everything handed to him. As I stated, generally the middle class works for what they get.

You earn scholarships. Especially if you are smart.

Generally they do. I am definitely in the middle class though and I see lots of my kids' peers getting fantastic merit scholarships. I think they've worked hard and deserve them, mostly. I would never let that color my opinion that, later on in life, they shouldn't progress in their careers because they got a lot of stuff handed to them.

I just don't understand the generalizations you are leaping to in order to make some sort of case.

Yes, accordign to Mitt it defines your social status. No taxes = no respect.

But on the other hand, it's everyone's right -- if not their duty -- to pay as little as possible.

Oh since YOU make over $100K, that means the poll is correct, 30% paying more that $25K?......LOL

How many people do YOU count for? Nine?

Wow! It went directly over your head.

According the tax table I posted previously, you need to make over $170K per year, married filling jointly, with no deductions to pay $25K in income taxes. That's just in the top 6% of household income earners. Yet 30% of CD posters are claiming this? ....LOL

Apparently everything went over my head because I have no clue what you're talking about.
