Of course but you have to admit great orators were able to gather followings.

Actually, Obama does not do well with unrehearsed material. In "debates" he stammers and doesn't seem well prepared.

Speech giving is fine, but we need someone who can think on their feet.

I hope Hillary wins.

I guess I could live with Obama but I think he is really inexperienced and not really a moderate -- I think he's way way way left. I think McCain is too wishy washy and I don't like his stance on Iraq. (I had a higher opinion of McCain before Bush won.)

Seems pretty likely to me that it will be either Clinton or Obama.

The Republicans are extremely fractured and bickering internally. Just take a look at Conservative boards like Hannity.com and you'll see just how unhappy they are - with many vowing to sit the election out or vote for a 3rd party candidate rather than support the likely Republican candidate (either McCain or Romney).

In addition, the general public has shifted a bit to the left from where they were 4 years ago and the Democrats know it. They are excited and energized and smell victory...

... and I for one think they'll achieve it.

Ken

After last night, Upton, you can take it to the bank! Not only did he speak well, to the point, was specific and great in answer on the Iraq issue. Miss Hill tried her best, but her best wasn't as good as his.

With a cape and a little white makeup he's practically DRACULA. The right look indeed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. I am consistently amazed when the media says he "wins" this debate or that debate; In th 1/21 debate he looked like a stammering fool, especially when Clinton and Edwrads were attacking his "present" voting; Last night, the same thing during parts of the first part of the debate.

As soon as he gets flustered with something, he raises his hand to let the moderator know he wants to refute something. You are right on point when you say he is an excellent speech maker but very poor when he has to think on his feet. THAT alone is not a characteristic I want in MY next President.

My favorite Obama moment last night: When Hillary shamelessly plugged her Town-Hall forum on the Hallmark Channel. She REALLY got the last word on that and he was visibly pissed! Atta girl Hillary, Atta girl!

HILLARY 2008!
