Medicare is for seniors. They paid FICA for their working careers and also pay a premium when they turn 65 and enroll. US taxpayers pay 0% towards this. This is paid for via payroll FICA tax.

There are a few million seniors who have both; their incomes are low enough that Medicaid pays their Medicare premiums.

As workers, we paid into that program, and are collecting money based on what we put into the plan over a lifetime of work.
Who the hell is he to say it's an entitlement program?
Screw him.
He just lost the senior vote for sure.

Americans have a history of poor savings. You'll be paying for them one way or another.

How much do you expect people with Medicaid-level incomes to save?

Won't effect that many, give it to their families. Or better yet, they can roll it into the contributions of their beneficiaries.

And the baby boomers will be the first generation to have contributed more than they will get back.
Does that mean their families will get refunds when they die ?

Medicaid is welfare regardless of age or citizenship. That and all the other welfare programs are "free money" to them.
