This sounds like those who were predicting Romney would win in a landslide.

You might want to turn off Fox News or tune in to another national station - Pundits say there are probably only 7 states that matter in Nov.

  • Florida.
  • Virginia.
  • New Hampshire.
  • Ohio.
  • Iowa.
  • Colorado.
  • Nevada.

If your not from one of the above your prediction means little - even if you are you might want get out and talk to people (I live in one of those states and Trump is unlikey to win here).

We need to be the current, the force of true change. We need to take our conservative message of limited government, individual liberty, and free market principles to bring about real change. We cannot be angry, vindictive, bigoted, and ignorant. We cannot go around telling people how much we hate their culture, how much we want to deport their grandmother, how they are welfare leeches, how they are lazy, how their religion is un-American, how they are un-American, etc.

People like Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and the late Jack Kemp are the future of the Republican Party in the 21st Century United States.

How dare you put Jack Kemp in with those RINOS!! And if that is the face of the GOP in the 21st Century, then it is the face of the political party with an historic run of WH losses. There is NO FREAKIN' WAY that those of us who have held our noses thru McCain and Romney are going to vote for anyone on your list...except possibly Zombie Jack Kemp.

It's about the mechanics of the economy

Economist: GOP may win 47 states in general election | TheHill

First of all, Donald Trump's Keynesian and protectionist economic policies would lead to a debt crisis, massive unemployment, and the end of capitalism as we know it. Having the government takeover our health care entirely would force us to either raise taxes or massively cut spending on defense or programs like social security and medicare that people have paid taxes into. That, or he'd have to pass a massive tax increase that would hurt economic growth even more than it's been hurt by the policies of this administration, the bureaucracy, the Democratic majority in the President's first term, and the Federal Reserve. Donald Trump hates freedom, hates immigrants other than those he's married, he hates capitalism, and he hates America.

Secondly, Donald Trump can't win a general election. In the end, the public likes to hear where people stand on the issues as opposed to empty rhetoric. Most voters don't vote in primaries, but more than half of Americans eligible to vote do so in a general election. Mitt Romney won 27% of Hispanics because of his tough stance on illegal immigration, he never said anything negative about Hispanics. Donald Trump has disparaged Hispanics, he will win fewer Hispanic votes than Mitt Romney. The last successful Republican who ran for President, President George W. Bush, won 40% of the Hispanic vote in 2004. The GOP did poorly with women last time, Obama won roughly 55% of the female vote - Clinton walks into this election cycle with 55% of that vote before we even consider the fact that she'd be the first female President. Trump will lose Republican women, no other GOP candidate will have that problem because of his disparaging remarks about women, not to mention his personal life. You then have the catholic vote - President Bush and President Obama both won the catholic vote, you can't tell me a man who has mocked catholics can win the catholic vote. While Trump could potentially do well with white working-class voters who were not supportive of Mitt Romney in 2012, he'd also cause many Republicans to vote third party, support Clinton, or stay home. Millennials also dislike Trump.

The bottom line is, you need a GOP candidate who can close the gap with Hispanics and white working class voters, win catholic voters, win over political moderates, do what Romney did in terms of winning independents, and win enough women to make the overall outcome close. Doing well with millennials also helps.

There are only four candidates who probably have a better than 50% chance of winning in a general election. Both Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio can close the gap with Hispanics, win the catholic vote, win over political moderates, win with independents, and minimize the losses the GOP will face with women in an election with the first female presidential nominee of a major party. Rubio also has appeal to white working class voters. John Kasich has tremendous appeal with white working class voters, catholics, and political moderates. Rand Paul has appeal to millennials, political moderates, and he could do something no one else can - make inroads with black voters as he's made criminal justice reform and urban renewal causes of his. Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, and Mike Huckabee also have a chance at victory in a general election.

Nope

I said when the idiots in the GOP nominated Romney, they had lost an election that was there's to lose.

A competent candidate would have easily sent Obama back to where ever he claims to be from.

For my part, I voted for Obama in '08. I voted 3rd party in '12 since I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the two bastards the establishment had put forth.

North Carolina needs to be on this list. They've undergone a population boom and are a swing state.

I don't believe Trump could win NY or CA, but I think his numbers there and everywhere else will be better than predicted.

47 states going red? What weird fantasy land does that person live in? No sane person would ever make that prediction.

Nope. Wake up and smell the coffee.

In the last 4 years the Democrats have lost everything.

GOP controls
  • US Senate
  • US House by margins not seen by 99% of living
  • majority of Governorships
  • majority of state legislatures
More than 1000 DNC seats have been converted to GOP in the last 4 years. This is because the middle working class has abandoned the Democrats. They can't take it anymore. King Hillary is facing a landslide loss.
