http://www.amazon.com/2016-Beyond-Re...6700371&sr=8-1

In the book, Ayers breaks down what a winning Republican or Democratic coalition would need to look like, based upon the probable 2016 electorate, to win the national popular vote.

In the following scenarios, "white" refers to "non-Hispanic white voters".

Winning GOP combos for 2016:

59% white 30% minority
60% white 28% minority
61% white 26% minority
62% white 24% minority
63% white 21% minority
64% white 19% minority
65% white 17% minority

Recent History:

2012: Romney 59% white; 17% minority
2008: McCain 55% white; 19% minority
2004: Bush 58% white; 26% minority (would not work in 2016)

Winning Democratic combos for 2016:

38% white; 77% minority
39% white; 75% minority
40% white; 73% minority
41% white; 70% minority
42% white; 68% minority

Recent History:

2012: Obama 39% white; 82% minority
2008: Obama 43% white; 81% minority
2004: Kerry 41% white; 73% minority (would win the popular vote in 2016)

In order for the GOP to reach 30% of the minority vote, according to Ayers, they will need close to 50% of the Hispanic vote. Bush received something like 40% of the Hispanic vote in 2004 and still only managed 26% of the total minority vote. According to the recent poll listed below, Trump is currently getting 16% of the Hispanic vote. The lower the GOP minority percentage, the higher the percentage they receive of the N/H white vote has to be to overcome the deficit in national popular vote.

Playing footsy with racists might work in a Southern primary, but it sucks as a national general election strategy.

This is not your normal election cycle and Trump is not your typical politician.....he has broken every establishment rule and all the pundits have been wrong on Trump.

You have 46% of the electorate who are majority white that stayed home in 2012, that's over 100 million votes that stayed home.......don't forget about them,, the minority over-played their hand in 2012 with the help of the media snubbing White America and that their votes are more important than others and they have something to say in 2016.

there will be a lot of surprises in 2016.

I was kind of leaning towards Trump, then recently Rubio, and now after that KKK episode, I'm back on Trump's side.

It's very important to me one believes in the Constitution and protects a peoples' rights no matter how inflammatory they are. More importantly watching CNN today reiterate over and over and over again the interview, I have to respect a guy who doesn't get bullied around.

Watching the other Republican candidates today take a hard stance on being stanch conservatives simply means a lame duck president. In even simpler terms, NOTHING gets done! Why would I vote for that? Trump has taken a stated position of give and take and compromise for the good of the larger picture. That's how change happens. The other candidates were using this against him??? I may talk slow but I'm not stupid

I've been a registered Democrat and Republican at various times. All I know is not Hillary.

I finally saw the new clip on the evening news: I can't image why David Duke would select trump instead of the one of the other two Hispanics that are running against him.....

I bet the GOP establishment payed Duke to go public....Trump doesn't need Duke. He has the South on Super Tuesday won.

Trump has NEVER met Duke and they have NO relation....this is GOP establishment dirty tricks.

Maybe he was focused on being asked such a pointless question by CNN when they should be talking about jobs, war, taxes, illegal immigration, or any number of other important subjects that a responsible journalist should be asking about.

Trump disavowed Duke, this is the MSM yet again, doing a hit job on Trump.

Just because you post it, doesn't mean it's worth responding to or worth consideration. Much of what you say isn't.

Case in point. Trump disavowed Duke last week and in front of 1000s of people you go on like he didn't and is a supporter of the KKK.
