Remove the electoral college and a Republican will almost never become president again. I do no like 4 to 6 states deciding the presidential election remove it and everyone's vote will count the same.
If you remove the electoral college that's exactly what you would have, states with large cities and population centers would determine the election, small states would be inconsequential. The states that determine the election are those that are evenly matched between the 2 parties, many of the other states vote republican or democratic every year.
We could start by ensuring that young people are properly educated on the U.S. Constitution and our system of government. With no participation ribbon handed out on the last day of class.

They already do. California has 55 electoral votes.
Estimates suggest 5 of those and the 5 House seats are the result of an illegal population, yes they do affect elections and it's even legal. Their population is included when calculating congressional districts. The next census will occur in 2020, if Trump is successful in sending a lot of these illegals home California and other states with high illegal populations will lose electoral votes and House seats. Estimates also suggest those seats would mostly be redistributed to red and purplish states.
As the saying goes elections have consequences and this may may a big one, it's also one of the hidden reasons Democrats are so much in support of illegals.
