Do us all a favor and prove that theory.

To Give the smaller States power against super States Such as California.

I'm VERY skeptical of the voter counts, i suspect Trump crushed her in sheer amount of votes as well as electoral college, but as usual Hillary's numbers were probably padded by dead voters, multiple/illegal ballots, "fraction correcting", rigged voting machines, etc. Hillary's numbers were padded against Bernie, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were padded against Trump too. It's already been admitted in the leaked Clinton campaign emails that they colluded with the DNC and rigged the primary against Bernie, that right there is proof he was winning in terms of vote count. Why resort to rigging the primary if you are "ahead"? Makes no sense

Well, Trump doesn't even believe in the fundamental integrity of the democratic process that brought him to power, so it's pretty hypocritical all around.

I think that it really is going to be something in the long run because Donald Trump is going to always have an * beside his name.

The man who won the White House without winning the popular (vote).

Maybe. Trump is likely to win the popular vote too. There is still a great deal of ballots being counted. Cnn projected Trump to win the popular vote earlier today.

The long run? Nobody that I know ever thinks about it when it comes to George Bush even though the electoral victory was much less clear in that election than it is in this one.

So no, the people didn't vote Trump in, he won based on Electoral College technicalities (a shame James Madison didn't get his wish in the Constitutional convention to get a popular vote). The people chose Hillary.

In the end this is heavily split however, revealing we really need to get better at compromise. Democrats lost via the legitimate election system, so they need to concede some things. Republicans now have a President that will go in losing the popular vote (like 2000 with George W Bush but even a bigger margin, so we've had our second Republican President in 16 years not elected by a Democracy) and can't make the argument more people chose him, so they will need to concede some things.
My goodness, the ignorance of American history is astounding. Not a single president has ever been elected by a "Democracy".
We are not, and never have been a "democracy", yet far too many people believe that we are. The Founding Fathers were scared to death of the idea of creating a democracy. Don't believe it, look it up yourself in the Federalist Papers, and read what the framers had to say in their own penned thoughts.

Didn't you guys at least grow up saying the Pledge of Allegiance?
If so, you must remember the part "and to the Republic for which it stands", right?

I guess for those who still think we live in a democracy, watching this short video might help you to understand better why we have the EC;

Any questions?

A lot of the outstanding votes left to count are in western liberal blue states and the military absentee votes usually total somewhere in the neighborhood of 250k. Based on that, I doubt Trump will overtake Hillary in the popular vote. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter and the only people who care are the ones still crying about Hillary losing. It's an irrelevant metric which makes for an interesting media footnote but has no bearing on our election process.

They're trying to use this popular vote as a rallying cry or something. But just last week they were perfectly fine with the Electoral College until Hillary lost. They'll get over it - eventually.

Exactly. Otherwise, the coastal metropolitan areas would dictate who is president.

Take a look at the map by county below. Note Democrat blue is basically hugging the coast + Chicago / Denver.
