"Belarus' leader Alexander Lukashenko on Friday ordered the closure of the border with Ukraine, seeking to block what he called an inflow of weapons to coup-plotters detected by his security services, BelTA state news agency reported."
And why not?
Let Lithuanians practice what they preach to Lukashenko ( regarding the "human rights" and "liberal values,") and support the potential refugees from the Middle East and Africa, as the rest of the EU does.
Why should Luka keep Lithuanian border safe from the migrants as he used to, when these migrants bring Belavia money? Wasn't it Lithuania that was demanding ( hysterically so) all those sanctions against Lukashenko?

Short answer. Because Luka is being hypocritical by trying to have it both ways. He wants to close his border with Ukraine, but doesn't want Lithuania to close its border with him.

He said it to you personally?
Or where this is coming from?
He did it all correctly, closing the border with Ukraine, because Ukrainian Taliban can't be trusted.
However my question was not about the Ukrainian border, but the Lithuanian one.
Did Luka tell you that he wanted the Lithuanians to keep it open, or where did you get this idea?
( And speaking about the Ukrainian Taliban - they are on the go today as we speak.)
Will have to address it on "Ukraine's" thread though.
This is in front of Zelensky's office, today ( yesterday?)
The quotation in my original posting is from the FT.
Quote:
Baltic officials say his [Lukashenko’s] latest tactic is to offer migrants from Iraq, Syria or several African countries a package that includes passage to the Lithuanian border.
