what's the big deal of you gain a pount or two over the course of a week? i've been as heavy as 165 pounds after christmas to as slim as 151 pounds in early february(5'10''). some days i take in 1400 calories, other days over 3,500.
i forgot which site it was on, but my recommended caloric intake to maintain my current weight(155) was something like 2,900 calories. 5 days a week, i dont even come close to that.
if you're that concerned over weight gain, you should just go for a run a few times a week.
i took a two week break from the gym when i had my wisdom teeth out, lost 6 pounds. i called it the dental diet...
Hey guys, so the gym was closed for the past week due to spring break at the university and I really did not do much in the way of working out (Laziness, what else ). I still follow very strict diet practice though. I have limited myself to 2 meals per day, increased my intake of pulses, fruits & veggies, and avoided food with sources of fat. I consume an average of 1970 calories per day (Is this way too much ?). I am a 21 year old man. My current height, weight, and body fat percentages are 6'0", 181.7 lb, and 20.4% respectively. How much fat would I gain by the beginning of next week. I need reasonably good answers, because it will help me set myself up for further weight loss during the upcoming weeks. My goal weight is 172 lb by memorial day.
1 - the answer to your title question is zero. Weight loss or gain isn't dictated by amount of working out. It dictated by calorie deficit or surplus. Which leads me to...
2 - your BMR is ~2000 KCal/day. If you really eat 1970 KCal, every single day you, are at a deficit, so you won't/can't gain weight. Note that 30 calories you THINK you eat and your BMR is pretty easy to misjudge, 30 calories is like half a potato chip
3 - if you eat a steady 1970 KCal/day, you'd loose 1/10th a pound a week.
3a - exercise obviously increases your deficit, and yields a greater loss as you've already seen
4 - a good rule of thumb is that men shouldn't go under 1600 KCal/day for an extended period
I would most probably be up to 184.2 lb from 181.7 lb in 1 week with this diet. That's sustainable, because it still keeps my 172 lb goal on target for summer. Just need to eat a bit less and workout a bit more.
