pair or solo for me, if you work out in a group, you have to adjust the weights all the time and usually more talking gets done than lifting, imho anyway.
I listen to my iPod when I work out so even if I was with someone it wouldn't make much of a difference. I prefer doing so on my own, however, as I don't like feeling as though I'm competing with someone.
I want to tell everyone who's "whoo-hoo"-ing etc. to **** so I can concentrate on my workout!
That is exactly how I feel. Working out solo is the only way to go. I used to go to the gym with my old girlfriend a lot but she'd go her way and I'd go my way and we'd meet up at the end. I shudder to even think about trying to workout with a group.
As a practical matter, I generally work out alone, but I like to have one partner for lifting.. and only one. I prefer it because it makes for a bit of camaraderie, it motivates me to get to the gym on days I'd rather not go (because I know my partner is waiting), and because it means you've got a spotter on all your exercises.
I don't want more than one partner though, because then your workout takes too long and you rest too much between sets.
I like going solo, both at the gym and running outside. A running partner can be nice on a long run, and to get some competition going, but besides that its so much easier to go alone, and I enjoy working out as some "me" time to relieve stress and collect my thoughts.
Prefer solo as I just like to do my own routine at my own pace. It would be nice to have a spotter or someone for extra motivation but my MP3 player helps me the most.
